Interesting. Google's not pulling this up anywhere else, at all. Price is about right on for a Taurus .38 snub.

Also, what is the orange rim at the back of the cylinder?

A little plastic ring that all new Taurus revolvers come with. It's not a part of the gun.

I have an 85 Ultralite w/ the enclosed hammer (like a S&W 642). While recoil is sharp, I don't find it uncomfortable. I have no problem putting 50 rounds through it in a brief session. I have only fired about 3 cylinders worth of +P rounds, but I didn't really notice much difference bettween them and standard pressure rounds in terms of recoil.

It carries great in a pocket holster!!

That's about how I'd describe the 642 shooting +P ammo. Certainly not as pleasant as an all steel K or L Frame Smith shooting thirty-eights, though I wouldn't call it harsh or brutal. Sharp is a good way to describe it. If you are overly recoil sensitive, you probably won't like it. But if you don't mind shooting something like an all-steel medium 357 Magnum like a Ruger GP100 or S&W K or L Frame, then you probably wouldn't find a 17 oz snub to be too objectionable.

That said, there is a noticeable difference between a 17 and a 21 oz gun. As weight decreases, felt recoil increases at an exponential rate. 4 ozs off a 40 oz gun isn't as noticeable as 4 oz off a 21 or 15 oz gun.
