I found a used Taurus M-450 at the shop yesterday and after looking it over I decided it might fit an empty spot in the safe. As a way of life I always have ammo, holsters, speed loaders or spare magazines for every handgun I own...Just in case.
I looked for HKS loaders for this Taurus and found that they don't make 'em. I found some of those odd-looking rubber thingamajobbies which are somewhat like some of the older speed loaders with an added ring on top...but everywhere I found them they were out of stock.
I don't have a Charter Arms .44Spl., but I do have a S&W M-696 5 shot .44 S&W Spl., so I have several times several HKS loaders for that pistol. On the off chance I tried the .45 Colt ammo in the HKS "CA44" speedloaders and they fit easily. Next I tried loading 5 in the speedloader and loading the pistol.
They worked as if made for one another. No binding in the loader or the revolver cylinder.

I have used the CA44 with my 450 for over a year now. It does work very well. It doesn't hold the rim as well, but I have never had any problems with them. By the way, the 450 is one of my favorite concealed carry guns. It is light weight with plenty of power.

The HKS CA-44 speedloader usually works fine with MOST modern .45 Colt ammo.

I have noticed that some batches of PMC have variations in rim dimensions that can cause a problem. (They don't like my Lyman shell holders either)

In the large N-frame loaders the only difference between the HKS model 29 loaders and their model 25-5 loaders is the lettering on the knobs. All other dimensions are the same and they can be used interchangably.

Now there IS a difference between .44 and .45 in the Safariland loaders.
