I pick up my M82 yesterday and I have a serious problem with this one. When I load all 6 rounds into chamber the cylinder will not rotate. I remove all the cartridge and put one in the chamber and cock the hammer and keep do the same to other cylinder until I discover one particular chamber that won't rotate .It seem to me that the lived cartridge rim rub agains the hand or the firing plate .What cause this and how can I fix this without going to the gun smith ?

That one chamber could have a headspace problem, but more likely the cylinder is either not true or the crane is bent so the rear of the cylinder is not at a perfect right angle to the center pin.

You don't indicate whether the gun is new or used, but if it is new, return it to the store where you bought it and get a replacement or at worst have the store return the gun to the U.S. repair facility.

Those problems can be fixed, but the purchaser of a new gun shouldn't have to pay for fixing them.

I believe Jim is correct on his diagnosis you might check that there isn't some gunk inside the chamber messing with the head space, you can send the gun to Taurus and more then luckily they won't charge you anything.

My revolver is used and is very old .I disassemble the side plate and cylinder tonight and it look like the problem is in the hand and the star because it has bright shiny spot all over indicating that this parts rubbing against something. I might have to replace the hand , star and crane .I am going to take this revolver back to the store that I got it from and tell the store owner about this problem and may be trade it for something else. This gun serial number is no longer listed with Taurus but I will give them a call tomorrow in case that they can send me some part. I actually like this one a lot and I hope I can fix it because it is 3 inches barrel not 4 inches and it feel pretty good in my hand .

I went to back to gunstore this morning and the inhouse gun smith attempt to live fire this one in his shop and it won't work so the owner will sent the gun back to Taurus and have them fix it. The gunshop will pay for all the shipping charge so I won't argue with them . :)

I think that is a good outcome. I hope things work out well.

I hope Taurus can fix it because this one has 3 inches barrel ( I don't see many 3 inches barrel .38 SPC in my neck of wood ) . :)

I recieved a call from gunstore yesterday .The store owner informed me that Taurus is unable to fix this revolver and he offer to get me a new Model 82 or I can get money back . I decide to go with the new model 82 but it will take several weeks before the new one arrive. Well, they got it fix one way or another even that mean they have replace it with a brand new one.

what about ruger sp101?

I bought one with a 2.5 barrel in San Francisco a few years back.
I had a problem with cylinder bind for awhile but all it needed was a serious cleaning.
I'm glad Taurus will work on it.

You must have bought that revolver a while back because I am not even sure that San Francisco gunstore sell hand gun anymore . They already ran off all gun store in Oakland and the ban on handgun in San Francisco last year ( I think the court reversed the law).

I went to the gunstore and the owner told me that the replacement is not arrive yet but it might not be model 82 but it will have 3 inches barrel in .38 Special .

I got my replacement last week, The Gunstore replaced my M 82 with Taurus Tracker in .357 Magnum. The owner told me that Taurus gave him option of sending $200 check to replace the broken M 82. I really appreciate when gun store value customer like me and I know that he will recover his $200 lost through primer , Unique , Power pistol powder that I will buy from him in the next 10 years. :)
