Hi guys, Was wondering if anyone has any advice on this weapon.. Noticed it has a bunch of barrel slop.. From what I understand it is fairy normal and will not affect it's accuracy? The baretta 92 has the same type of slop even brand new.. As it seems is the nature of the beast. Anyone have the Taurus pt 92 with any in sight on this issue?

1KperDay,I had read them all. It does seem as normal. Thanks for the link. New member and learning my around the site..

Go shoot your gun, you won't ask any questions about accuracy after that :).

Zhyla,
Thanks for your post. I'll be shooting it soon. I have a hand full of high quality guns however this one is the first and only I've seen with barrel play like this, so it was only an inquiring question about the barrel slop and concerns for accurancy..

Thanks guys.

Enjoy... I have owned both manufacturers copies of the 92 model...still have the Taurus. I prefer the frame mounted safety and capability to carry cocked and locked.

Axeman g, I agree about it's safty. The baretta seems to be backward of the Taurus. I like to thumb down safty off rather then up like the baretta. Makes for faster readyness while having to draw on demand..Atleast for me anyway.

i'm not sure about barrel slop but my 92 afs is one of the most accurate pistols i own and it certainly does not need a trigger job. It has a great trigger.

I have a PT 917c and 92 taurus..... one is 5 inch the 917 is 4 inch barrel,
both are very accurate and trouble free....I have 2k rounds through the 917 with one stovepipe when it was new...and 500 rounds through the 92 and no problems

My barrel slop is still there even while a round is chambered. I even called a shop with this information and I'm told that the Baretta 92 has the same barrel slop as the Taurus 92- as it seems most people are apperently saying the slop is noraml and the nature of the beast.

As far as trigger work go's the action seems pretty nice unless firing it double action.. It has an incredible amount of travel and effort to pull the trigger. I'd like to see it a little more smooth functioning for double action.

i wouldnt worry about it. my pt99 has been one of the best pistols i have owned. i shoot it more than my glock 21. and the acuracy is amazing. it seems to like the 115 gr fmj the best. it is nothing to shoot the centers out of targets at 15 to 20 yards (the length of my indoor range).

Normal. Unless you see wild hits with what should be fairly accurate groups at small distances, it should be fine. I had a PT92 and should never have gotten rid of it, and preferred it over the Beretta Brig I ended up getting.

Excellent info .. Thanks! Huge help.. I was somewhat concerned about it,but the more positive I get from you guys on my Taurus 92 the more my mind is at ease. It's the only firearm I've bought with this barrel wiggle. As it seems is not to be worried about.

How does it shoot? If it shoots well I wouldn't worry about it. Are you talking about slop with the slide back (many guns have this) or with the slide forward? I have a PT99 I bought in 1988 that has about 20,000 rds through it. It still is the most accurate 9mm I own. I paid $225 for the gun and it was money well spent.

The only thing that ever went wrong with it is the rear sight leaf broke. Sent to Taurus and turnaround was about 2 weeks at that time.

It has an incredible amount of travel and effort to pull the trigger.

As does any gun that uses the same type of DA trigger system Beretta, Walther, S&W, etc.

Nope, it still has the slop even with the slide locked foward. And to be honest I havn't fired it yet. I hope to be going this week to give it a test.. I've owned the Beretta 92 fs and was all over in a 9" group at 7 yards.Needless to say was not happy with that in the least.. I ended up trading that one in for a glock 17 and what a world of difference,i tore the center right out of the target at the same distance. With that said figured I'd more then likely have the same issue with this Taurus. I supose the 92 fs could have had a problem that I didn't know about, however I didn't waste any time worrying about it I just jumped into the glock and was very pleased.
