Taurus PT145 Mil Pro Mag Disassembly

I've done a search on this forum with no results. I have a brand new flawless-operating Taurus PT145 Millennium Pro that needs a thorough cleaning.

How do you get the baseplate off the magazine for disassembly? I asked this question in an earlier post--so if you've read this request twice, my apologies.

This baseplate does not have a center post to push in--just a notch at the bottom of the back of the mag.

I called Taurus this morning, and this is what you do:

1. Put a slim flathead screwdriver in the hole at the bottom of the mag,

2. Push forward until you have a stroke and 3 hernias, and

3. The baseplate will slide off.

Once you see the internals and study them a bit, then the second trip should be easier.

Never saw a mag/baseplate configuration like this...BUT the gun is flawless. I just need to buy an extra mag for target practice-------no disassembly required.

Just for your information, cdnn has Taurus factory (PT145-Millenium) mags for $19.95, but I "think" the Pro takes different mags, so that may not be helpful.

The Pro 9mm and .40 take different mags. My PT-145 Millenium magazines will fit and function in PT-145 Millenium Pro guns, side by side comparisons: they are identical. I happened to have an empty mag on me at the last show and I compared it with a new Pro model another dealer had. I think very early in production, the design of the PT-145 was changed, then the mags may be different. My gun was made about a year ago just before the introduction of the Pro series. The 9mm and .40 were upgraded in the Pro models to look virtually identical to the PT-145.
