I have a chance to pick up one of these slightly used. The Taurus PT145 Millennium Pro .45. The recoil is too much for my friend. He says he only put about 30 rounds through it and it was good except for the hand pain he experienced for almost a week. I have no experience with Taurus pistols and I am wondering if this model is any good? I can get it for $200.00 cash. I have a Taurus .22 revolver that has never given me any trouble. Thanks. I am not too worried about recoil as my main CCW is a Glock27. This would be my first .45. ;)

I love mine. Recoil is no problem - in fact I consider it mild for such a light gun. $200 is a very good price - I haven't checked recently but I bet new ones are over $300.

New ones run in the $340 range around here. At $200 I would get it NOW. Thats a very good deal.
I really liked mine but I sold it to fund another gun. I didnt have any problems in the 500 rds I put thru mine.

My PT145 was a great gun. After a bad time with Taurus customer service I've since sold my Taurus models and won't deal with them anymore. I hated parting with my 145 and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.....I just don't like the company.

I have really enjoyed mine...and have enjoyed the accuracy too at up to 70 feet (Something I did not expect with such a short barrel ! ) It is my son's favorite pistol to shoot too!

Don't even think twice; just go get it. It is a great gun, and a $200 price tag makes it an exceptional gun!

I've got a PT145 and its my only Taurus. Bought it for a car console gun, but its a very nice, compact CCW. Its hard to beat 11 rounds of .45 in such a small package. Goes bang every time and is more accurate than it should be for such a compact pistol.

Mine was shooting 6" groups at 60 yards with silvertip HPs! It was a bit larger than I like for CCW since I pocket carry, but I couldn't have asked for a better large caliber DAO.

Go get it now. These guns may be one of the best concealed carry firearms around. I've got one that I carry daily and shoot often. Love it. 1300+ rounds so far.

Here's one that you can take or leave.
200 bucks? That's hard to turn down, even for a Taurus (which I generally don't recommend). If it were higher priced, I'd recommend not purchasing it.
30 rounds is nothing for a gun. You are essentially getting a NIB gun for WAY under new prices. This is one of the few cases where I have seen Taurus's lack of holding value being an advantage.
There are some things you need to be aware of though.
First, these guns DON'T do +P ammo. You will have all kinds of problems if you do shoot +P ammo through it. I went through 1 Guide Rod MainSpring combo before being lectured by Taurus customer service. It took 4 months to get to me and this is after I called once a week to get the status of my part.

Once the second Guide Rod Mainspring combo had been installed, it had problems going into battery after the first shot. Had to manually push the slide forward that last fraction of an inch to get the pistol where it should have been. I remembered that I had to do this occasionally with the first Guide Rod Mainspring combo.

I sold mine for 300. I bought mine NIB for 320.

OTOH, I had a 745C DAO Milpro that worked with pretty much any kind of ammo (not +P though). Other than shooting a tad low, it wasn't THAT bad of a gun. Sold it to get the PT 145.

If nothing else, you are experimenting a bit and getting a pistol that is OK when everything is working right, and that's not too bad of a thing.
Tell us what you think of the gun.

My dad just bought one from cabelas for 329, after they did not have the "Judge". We have put maybe 300rounds thru it and man is it nice. Sweet little .45 with hardly no kick and easy strip down. We used cheap ammo (wolf) and the high end stuff (winchester i think). Shot both with no problem and no jam. Only issue was the wolf was dirty ammo so it had to be cleaned.

Highly recommend it.

I had one for about a week. No one could get it to fire more a mag without a jam. The ergomonics of this pistol are fantastic. For $200 I'd be very tempted to try it again since there are others who report no problems.
