What are your thoughts on a Taurus MILLENNIUM PRO PT145 .45 ACP? Would you trust your life on them and how accurate and relieable are they? I heard they had some problems at first but seem to have fixed them now. I want to use it as a carry gun instead of my Para Ordnance Carry 1911 LDA weight and capacity. Do you think the Taurus would be a better gun??:banghead:

I have the PT745,which is the single stack version,(I liked the way it fit my hand better than the 145),and a good friend of mine has the PT145.We both agree that it's an awesome CCW gun,and we can both rely on it to go bang EVERY time.I safed a Para C6.45 when I got my PT745.It's now in rotation with my Sig P239 and Glock 32 as my dailyCCW,it's a mood thing...:D

I have the PT145. It is my carry gun.
I carried several other 45's before. I went with the PT-145 due to the weight and size.
The pistol when empty, feels a little strange, kind of front heavy. After you load the pistol, it balances out really well.
I was a little concerned at first. After owning the PT-145 for some 5 months now, I have no concerns at all.
The pistol functions as good if not better than any of the other 45's that I have. The pistol has never failed to feed or fire.
The pistol actually feels pretty good when being carried. I would do it all over again. I really like it!!!:D

I recently bought mine. It is the new SS SA/DA version. 300 rounds so far of mixed Winchester ammo (WWB jhp, Silvertips and WWB fmj) and Wolf fmj. No failiures of any kind to date. I don't like the Heinie sights so I filled in the dot on the rear sight with a black sharpie so now I have just the front dot. Works better for me, but others opinions will vary.

As a carry gun it is a dream to carry in a IWB holster. The gun is so thin, that even though it feels good in my hand I wanted to beef it up a little. (something that I can't believe I would ever do to a double stack .45! lol) I installed a Houge slip on grip on the gun it it feels even better.

The trigger on mine is still kinda tight and heavy but it is constantly improving. Recoil is very smooth and totally managable. I find it comparable to my Glock 19 and I think that this is one of the PT145's major strong points.

I think this gun is an awesome buy and a great addition to my collection. I would readily recommend it to anybody looking for a compact .45 for CCW.

Just bought mine and have shot 100 rounds

I am very satisfied. It is my first automatic and I have found that proper grip is essential to good grouping or the weapon will fire low. I have tried hot high pressure 230 grain loads and some 185 grain target loads. I have had no feed problems yet.

This has to be the one of the most over posted threads of any subject.Go to www.unitedforums.com and go to the Taurus forum there. Search the threads and browse. That is where the users are. Have a PT111 Mil/pro and have nothing but good things to say about it. Question time. Are you willing to go to the degree of training and keep up to the high degree needed for using a single action pistol? Despite the user friendly thing people post about SA pistols negligent discharges do happen. I was in the military twenty years and worked closely with a number of police departments on my off time. Reading the police and military tactic magazines brought home the point of negligent discharges and the offending reasons these happened. No one likes to admit that they or their personnel have this happen. It is a more frequent occurence than one would think. Safties do come off safe by rubbing or jostling in a holster. Same can be said for DAs as well. But having a light trigger pull able to set off the gun is not a condition without the safety in a holster I would want ot have. That is why I have DAO or DA/SA triggers only. Are you OK with holding a perp at gun point until police take over the scene from you wnd you have a light trigger pull that could go off unintentionally? Liability would figure in here. Training and common sense dictate not,but under stress is altogether different. Having held perps at gunpoint I was glad for the DA revolver rather than a SA auto. I would rather not have to go through all that again. But if have to, the DA/SA or DAO will assure one less thing under stress can go wrong. Not trying to dump on the SA auto people. Shot a Colt Commander used by under cover type many years ago and feel in love with it. But in my state of mind I cannot say I should use a SA auto. Maybe you can. Just something to consider. Many People have used SAs over many decades and done well. Training and constant vigilance are needed to keep unfortunate things from happening. So, good luck on your choice. Let us know which you pick. Many satisfied Taurus users have checked in and more will. There will be naysayers. If the naysayers are legit and are not using emotion or back up what they say with emperical data the claim, then they are justified. There are bashers and there are legit claims for or against Taurus products.

I respectfully disagree.
Now can anyone tell me which caliber is better- 9mm vs. .45 ACP?

The Taurus Forum and Taurus Talk get very little posting traffic compared to THR, The Firing Line, or Glocktalk which all have plenty of info on the Mil Pro as well.

I really like both of mine (DAO and SA/DA) and so far no worries.

.

I have had both the Carry 12 LDA and the PT-145 MP and I still have the MP. As a matter of fact it is in my right front pocker of every pair of pants/shorts I have on. I DO trust my life to it daily!!!

MILPRO 145 NOT FOR ME

I had one...for awhile. I could not trust the gun, it had constant failures to feed. I could not put 50 rounds of any kind of ammo through it without a failure. I really liked the way it handled and it shot like a dream, but the feeding problem was more than I wanted to deal with.

I think I am in a minority on this, it seems that most owners love their's.

hmmmm, methinks slinger had a bad gun. As for me, I have never had a failure to feed. I use the same grease on the rails that I use on my M1 Garand...never have had a failure to feed. This is, a pocket cannon that is ergo correct and my personal carry for life.

I have one. Its been 100% reliable, seems very well made and is more accurate than it should be.

my pt145

I have a milpro pt145 that I've had for about 4 months now.I've put about 700 rounds through it without a single problem of any kind.It is my ccw gun.I trust my life to it without out a single worry.sj

I got rid of a Kimber Ultra Carry in favor of my PT-145 DAO...No regrets. And the first time I shot it it gave me a 6" group from the Weaver at 60 yards!

I've only had my Taurus PT145 Millennium Pro about a week. I''ve had the chance to take it to the range once and fire ~150 of my personal reloads. It performed very well and was quite comfortable to shoot.

I do. And mine is. I guess they all aren't. But mine is. 800 rounds so far, and I have never had to clear a jam.

Proper Grip is Essential to good shot groups.

This PT145 was my first large caliber pistol. I have over 200 rounds as of today without a problem.

Being used to rifles, I did truely appreciate how important a proper grip is on a pistol with such a short barrel. I found a grip position with my two thumbs facing the target that forces my trigger finger to fire the weapon at the tip of the finger. This makes it less likely that I will pull the weapon to the right as I pull the trigger. One other thing that I noticed is that this small barrel is easy to heat up and as it warms up, the shots tend to go higher and some compensation is needed as the weapon goes from cold to warm.

I am very happy with this weapon so far. I use 230 grain FMJ CCI round at the range, but step down to a 185 grain Remington JHP for personal defense. The smaller bullet goes faster and delivers greater foot pounds at close range.:what:
