Just purchased 2005 model Taurus PT145. Have been to shooting range on two occasions and put over 500 rounds through the gun. Mostly FMJ & rest hollow points. Not one failure to feed or eject. Even tried limp-wristing my grip to force a stove-pipe failure to eject. Didn't happen. Did experience one failure to fire due to bad primer on a re-load round but simply pulled trigger again and round fired. Can't do that with most other semi-automatics!

Magazine release button, slide release and safety levers are right where they should be. And even with a double-stack magazine you don't need big hands to get a comfortable grip. And speaking of grips - the grip angle on this gun makes it natural pointer.

This PT145 is a great little gun. Where else can you get a 45 ACP weapon with 10 + 1 firepower in a package this size and for the price?

No, I don't work for Taurus.

Glad to hear you like it. I have always had the idea in the back of my head that I should pick up one of these just for some range fun. Seems like the Taurus guns are inexpensive, yet functional guns.

I picked one up in November and after only 50 rounds I really like it too. Accuracy, capacity, size, price, and positive safety were my criteria when I went shopping and this little gun hit them all to a 'T'

I really like mine!! I have not had any failures of any kind after about 300 rounds of 230gr FMJ and a couple hundred rounds of Golden Saber 230 and 185gr JHP's. So far the 185gr seems to be the most accurate with 4-6" groups at 25yds.

This is now my carry pistol and I'm thinking it's the best $310 I have ever spent :D Just wish the mags weren't so expensive :( I just added a Hogue slip-on grip and it's very comfortable. Just had to trim a bit of the material so it's above the mag.

No doubt that Taurus' 24/7 & Millenium Pro line of pistols are genuinely good pistols. Their 92/99 series are also good but they are essentially Beretta copies so that doesn't really count. With Taurus rolling out SA/DA versions of these fine pistols soon, I think they are going to gain even more round considering the long DAO trigger is the primary complaint about them.

I'm crazy about mine. I started a thread comparing the PT145 Mil Pro to other plastic pocket 45's too. :)

I've also found that some leather holsters for a Glock 29/30 fit the PT145 perfectly.

Yep, I bought a PT145 awhile back, and now I carry it whenever I can (some pockets are just too small, so I carry the PM9 instead). I love having all that firepower in that compact package (will even more so after I get my 185gr Double Taps in the mail).

I had a Glock 36 for a while. Well made, reliable gun. But I was spooked carrying that gun in a pocket holster with a round in the chamber. That nice trigger pull was just too short and light.

I like mine, too. Seems everyone has the virtues adequately convered. I was surprised at the accuracy and "shootability."

I've owned a Taurus Millenium Pro 145 for almst 2 years. It's sent more than 1500 rounds downrange and has never had a single problem. It has become my primary carry weapon. It conceals easily. Having 10+1 capacity in a .45 is a real good feeling. I trust it completely.

I just make sure that I properly clean and lube it after every range outing.

I can't say enough nice things about the PT-145 Pro.

Enjoy yours.

Take care.

Jim

Hooray for the great lil' PT 145! :D

Since this is an owner's praise thread, let's see some pics of yours...

Does anyone know when these are coming out? It's the one thing I'd change also.

No issues with mine, 700+ rounds down the pipe. It's a nice small package that is quite potent.:D Gotta love that .45ACP.

PT145 my view

George, I found Taurus mags at Midwayusa.com for $18.95. Taurus' MSRP is $39.00. I ordered 2 last night. One for a stack of defensive rounds and another to go with the two that came with the gun to burn up as much ammo as I can at the range. :D This is one fun pistol to shoot!

This little pistol could quite possibly be the best bargain around. Major firepower, easily carried, scary accurate, and it goes bang everytime you pull the trigger. ( unlike my far more expensive Kimber) I had one failure to come to battery in the first 50 rounds. (limp wristing / tight tolerance?) After that, zero problems through the next 2,000 or so run through it. Most all the 1911 guys that see it want to give it a try and to a person walk away impressed. I'm always glad to swap a few rounds with folks cuz I get to shoot some interesting stuff in return. :)
It has become my carry of choice and my truck gun when I can't carry it.
( It makes an unsightly bulge in a bathing suit.):what:
My son has a 24/7 in 9mm that we have tried to wear out. It just keeps going bang and sending bullets where we aim them.
I have no afilliation with Taurus. I'm just seriously impressed with what they are offering to the market place these days and really want to take a close look at their new 1911 when it comes out.

From what I hear, the 24/7 Pro seems to be shipping already and should hit stores soon. May take a little while longer for the 24/7 Pro Compact (supposed to be their new name) to hit the stores.

PT145 Pro Rubber Grip

I have had my PT145 for half a year now, and have been desperately looking for the rubber grip overlay similar to your picture, torpid. George S. is this the same grip you have on your PT145? I am also looking for tritum sights, and unfortunately found out the hard way that Trijicon's model for the PT145 doesn't have dovetails...and thus is completely useless...any pointers or model numbers or websites to find either of these items...anything would be helpful!

@skeetr818 - I have had my PT145 for half a year now, and have been desperately looking for the rubber grip overlay

Looks like a full-size Hogue Handall grip sleeve that he trimmed to fit. I plan to do the same. I have the Jr. version on my Kel-Tec P-11 and it helps a lot with the grip/recoil.

You can find them here or eBay, Amazon, etc..

I have a Jr on my Kel-Tec. The Jr only has the one raised ridge with a straight dimple texture on the sides, the Full-size has two ridges with curved textures, as shown in that Hogue link I posted. Sure looks like you have the Full-size in that picture. ;)

Ignore me and listen to Mamba, who was right on the money. :)

>Ignore me and listen to Mamba

:) I ordered a full-size sleeve this weekend from Amazon.

Taurus changed the sights to dovetails when they added the SA/DA trigger and Heine "Straight-8" sights. The original Millennium & Milliennium-Pro models had screw mounted sights.

Heine is supposed to be offering night sights and other options "soon".

That is the main reason I'm trading my PT145 and getting a G30. No night sights to be found for this gun, which is surprising since it's designed for CCW and they are popular guns. Also, and this is not the gun's fault, the grip is actually so small for a .45 that my shooting thumb wants to bump the mag release button during rapid fire, every time. That ain't good when you hear a click and expect a bang!
