Will any after market grips for the 1911 fit a Taurus PT1911? I'm looking for some stag grip for a new PT1911 w/ ami safety but I'm not sure about the cut out in the back for the bottom arm of the safety on the right pannel.

You would need grips with the cutout in the right side panel for the ambi safety, or make the cutout yourself - using the one in the original panel as a model - if you're handy at that sort of thing. (Not I. ;)) I know of no other potential problems.

The above is TTBOMK.

I forgot to ask.................

someone once told me that the grip screws on a Taurus PT1911 have a wider head than any other 1911. Is that true?

Yes, Taurus uses oversize grip screws. But a new set is only $4-8, so you might as well get a set to match the new grips. :)

I just ordered a set from Chip McCormack. I asked the lady if they would fit a Taurus PT1911. Her reply was " yes, they will". They should be here in a couple of days and I'll post my opinion when I get them.
