I went into a local gun shop here in the Dallas Area and wanted to purchase some crimson grips for my PT1911. They fit Okay but the ambidextrous safety on the right side would not function with these grips. the laser on the grip conflicted with the safety.

Has anyone put any crimson grips on their PT1911 or had to modify their right side safety?

Never mind I forgot about Google

I found my answer:

from Crimson Trace Forums said:
It will fit but the stock ambi-safety will need to be removed, modified, or replaced with a modified one to fit.

If you choose to modify you will have to shorten it slightly to clear (about 1/3rd of the material on the right paddle will need to be removed). Your local gunsmith can do this quickly and inexpensively, or a steady hand a dremel can do this modification easily as well.

Also Crimson Trace sells pre-modified Wilson Combat safeties that can be used as a direct replacement to your current 1911’s safety. They are $55 + $5 for shipping and we offer stainless or blued.

It is the "homeland defense" version. Has special markings on the slide as well.

Nice package! I choose to go w/ the std PT1911. If I choose CT grips that will be down the road. 700 bucks on a Taurus!!!!

I found a gun smith that would do the work for noting if I bought some of these grips from him for $275.00. I am still thinking about it

This Taurus is great and shoots like a charm, not one problem with it. I just do not know if a set of crimson grips would be a good investment. I am sure lots of people will tell me that they are, I just am not sure
