Taurus/Rossi goes nuts w/the .410

Now my question here is do the .410 levers on this page actually shoot 45-70 too? And reliably?

they claim to shoot both 45/70 and .410
I would imagine they would do both reliable since it is a manual repeater.

The lever/revolver thing is a little gratuitous, but the revolving shotgun concept is kinda cool and I see they're now offering one in .44 mag and 28 ga. They look like fun, albeit fugly guns and I just might pick one up if I ever have disposable income again.

On a somewhat related note, I see Taurus has upgraded its Judge concept to the 28 ga. Could be a versatile trail gun.

Wonder if that 410 lever action revolver rifle is drilled and tapped, and who makes a Picatinny rail for it.
With something like a 6-24X50 with tactical turrets and illuminated mildots, that would be a pretty sweet setup.

I am missing it, Were is the lever action revolver???
He misspoke. There is no such thing as a lever action revolver from Taurus.

Yet.

Behold the sillyness! Just when they are moving in the right direction they have to take 4 steps back.

It looks like something that came out of an anime.

That being said if it were in .454 casull then I might actually buy it for (censored) and giggles

Well, that didn't take long.

Words fail me. Once again satire is preempted by reality. While it does have a certain steampunk charm, that has got to be the stupidest gun I've ever seen.

I agree, but this one is pretty interesting. Looks like a neat toy to accompany my 357 lever. 08_2.jpg

Rossi's got all sorts of neat toys. That's what they do - and, hey, when we were 7~8 years old and playning with our "Fanner Fifty's", I'll bet we could have used a toy version of one of these? Now, they're making them for grown up kids and plinking fun :)

What the hey - lets have at it. Makes as much sense as the average civilian having a full on Tacti-cool AR rifle with rails all over and all the off planet bad-guy sensing do-dads and lasers that can be attached? These "adult" toys are just going in the other direction - anti black gun fun :)

I agree, except it isn't anti-black gun fun, just an alternative to it.

I want the 28 ga version as well as the upgraded 28 ga Judge from Taurus. Mostly because there aren't any readily available slug and buckshot loads for the 28 ga and figuring out how to make them myself would be a lot of fun.

Rossi/Taurus always comes out with neat new stuff. The Judge 45C/410 is such a hit even Smith and Wesson is coming out with one now.

That is 45Colt and 410. Not 45-70

Actually, they all look pretty interesting and if I had the spare cash to buy one (and the pricey .410 ammo to go with it) I might buy one just for fun. Not sure I see any "serious" uses for any of them except perhaps pest control around the farm but why does every purchase need to be justified with a "serious" use?

Sorry I guess it should give Malin a run for the money than. Got to love Taurus!!!

BTW 410 ammo is getting plentiful now days with the popularty of the Judge. Walmart even carries buck ammo for 410 marked PISTOL.
Now .28...well that will be a hard one unless it is a hit.

still don't understand why these are so popular. I was working in the industry when they were originally release and people went nuts over them.

All I could think about was how useless they were. Oversized for a .45LC revolver and 410 is useless for the stated purpose.

Yet I had dealers lining up to buy the things.

Companies make them because they are popular. I understand that. What I don't understand is why anyone would own one of these travesties.

Did you see Smith and Wesson is coming out with a pistol in 45C and 410 and clips for 45acp too

Yep. I said the same thing about that one. Dumbest concept for years in the firearms industry. But people are buying them so I don't fault companies for making them.

Perhaps the lever was added because rotating that humongous cylinder by pulling back the hammer singleaction or pulling the trigger double action takes more effort than on a regular revolver?

The Marble Game Getter and H&R Handi-gun showed in the early 20th Century that there is a niche market for .44/.410 guns that fire ball or shot; as I have pointed out elsewhere, some Southern gun laws that restricted handguns exempted pistols with 12" or more barrels, usually the "handi-guns" that were essentially short barrel .410 shotguns with pistol grips. These were guns that appealed mainly to trappers or hunters in a narrow niche market.

The Judge as a .45/.410 defensive weapon is something I have debated over. A local farmer has one and carries it in the field when riding his tractor, for use on medium size predators, snakes or game. As defensive weapon, revolvers that fire ball or shot are still a niche market and a small one at that.

I think it looks cool. That's reason enough to buy a gun; it's why I bought my GSG-5.

The younger gun-buying generation was introduced to guns through movies and videogames. It makes sense that the more stylized and fantastical guns (Judge, Ranch Hand, that new Keltech shotgun) are popular. We'll see more of them in the future.

And yeah, that revolver shotgun rifle is straight out of Borderlands.
