I am looking at getting a Taurus Tracker in 45 LC, but I have a few questions.
Are all Trackers made from titanium at least in part?
Can a tracker handle my full house 45 LC loads like a ruger?
If no to the previous, how hot can it go?
TIA

I think the .45 was discontinued???? I'll let someone else address the questions, but that line of handguns interests me, too. I'm likin' the .357 and .41 mags.

They are listing this WEIRD .45 colt/2.5" .410 shot firing revolver now. Not sure what it'd shoot like in .45. I know my contender barrel, chambers 3" shot shells, is less than stellar in accuracy do to the freebore. It'll group about 4-6" at 100 yards, which is acceptable, I guess, for hunting. My .30-30 barrel is more like a little hand rifle, though. :D

I know they have a "Tracker" in .41 in stainless, so the whole line isn't just total titanium, but I'd be most interested in the titanium guns. Taurus's list price is only a couple hundred more for Titanium. A Ruger HOT .45 load might be a little hard on the wrist in a light gun like that, though. The gun being basically a five shot K frame size gun, I would not think it would be up to Ruger strength hand loads in that caliber, but others probably no more about it. I know I'd be hesitant to fire one of my Blackhawk fire breathers in one. Go to http://www.taurususa.com/main/index.cfm?CFID=1024306&CFTOKEN=10627998 to check out the whole line.

The tracker only is rated for Factory loads around 900fps...I had one and while a good gun and would be a good bear country gun, Idea is it is cheap and if you load it in a bear situation with full house loads, it will hold up while the bear is chasing you for 5 shots, if you survive you could replace it with another. I sold mine to get a S&W

Yes, this is a discontinued model. The seller informed me of that.
Thanks for the information. I don't have any wheel guns yet, so all the information is very helpful.
Thanks.

Yeah, my trackers are bead blasted stainless with 'ribber' grips.
They are NOT anywhere as stout as rugers.
Matter of fact, the manual that comes with them will give velocity and bullet weight guidelines that are not to be exceeded, if you want your warranty to remain intact.

It can certainly easily handle cowboy loads, but I wouldn't exceed 900 FPS x 200-255 grains just because my trackers are light, and your wrist takes a POUNDING.
Keep it within the guidelines and your gun and wrist will thank you.

I shoot HOT!! loads in my older .45 colt vaquero (It's been worked over by Gary Reeder.) and has the little birdshead grips.
You would think those would be hard on your wrist but not so!! It sorta just rolls up in your hand.
300 grains times over 1000 FPS, no problems!
Feels like a heavier .38 special!!!

Old Bisley-vaqueros, and the older acusport bisleys can handle anything that my birdshead can handle, and much more.
Ruger is the way to go for hot stuff.
