I picked up a SAA today, original described by the seller as a 1873 Cattleman. It's an Uberti, the patent dates read 1871 and 1872, which would make sense I suppose. It's a .45LC, just wondering what I picked up. He said that this was right before or right after Uberti stopped or started importing via Taylor, wanted to get the story straight. Taylor is across the top, Uberti is very small under the barrel, SAA 45LC is on the side of the barrel. Here's a (crappy) photo.

I don't think Taylor is any different then Cimarron, or others.

They were not the sole importer of Uberti firearms, then or now.

They just had enough pull, or suck as the case my be, to get non-standard finishes and such.
