Hello.

Does Black Hills or another company produce a .38 BP cartridge whose bullet will expand to .375? I understand that accuracy will suffer if the bullet doesn't fully engage the rifling. Thank you in advance.

I pour my one lead and hand load my BP cartridges. Find a bullet you like that works with your gun.

They'll work just fine. Just Cowboy action loads, that's all.

This is THE ammunition for those that have a cartridge conversion on their 36 caliber percussion revolvers in 38 special chambered firearms. Loaded using smokeless powder. The 38 caliber hollow base bullet will bump up to take the rifling in the barrels .375" groove. For use in our Kirst Cartridge Konverters and R&D Cartridge Conversions and of course these also work out of any 38 special or 357 magnum revolver. 650 fps.

What I don't get is the lack of having those conversions in .38 S&W which is much closer to bore size (duh) and in the lower power range similar to BP. After all you don't want a moron dropping in a +p+ Treasury .38 spl load do you ?

Little something to do with the availability of ammo. 38special is a lot more common and much cheaper the 38 S&W. Whos going to buy a cylinder that's hard to obtain ammo for.
