I did some horse trading yesterday and scored a Encore with a muzzle loader and a Bearaga 300 win mag barrel.

My question is: I only have the forend for the muzzle loader and cannot make it fit the 300 barrel, should I have another forend for the rifle barrel?

Another question; how bad is recoil with the 300 win mag on such a light platform? I've shot a Savage in 300 win mag and it was tolerable, how bad is this gonna beat me up? I'm not particularly recoil adverse.

You will have to purchase the rifle forend to use with the rifle barrel. The screws from the muzzleloader forend will never work on a rifle barrel.

I had the same gun and same 300 win mag barrel and I found the recoil to be brutal. I bloodied the inside of my mouth from the inside skin of my cheek laying across when behind the scope. It was a stupid amount of recoil for me and seemed ridiculous to keep owning it for use on a Missouri whitetail. So I sold the barrel first. YMMV

I did a little digging last night and couldn't find a direct answer about the forend. I noticed that various places listed "rifle" and "muzzle loader" forends separate, which I took as a hint.

I'll use it as an excuse to upgrade to the Pro stock set most likely.

I'm not too worried about the 300 being too much of a good thing, I really wanted the Encore for a 357 Maximum carbine build. Selling the 300 barrel will help fund that goal if it beats me up too bad.

I have a 21" 300 win barrel on an encore. I did a post about the velocity's I was getting a while back. I have the flex stock on it truly makes that recoil less than my 116 in 270 (keeping in mind my encore scoped with that barrel weighs under 7lbs). TC really did a nice job with the flex stock, and I would recommend getting one as you will be very impressed by it. Shot about 35 with it last night and still couldn't be happier.

That's comforting to my shoulder to hear TTundra.

I've got a thread on the reloading forum incase anyone has some load data to share, I'd be very grateful.

I had the Flex Tech stock on mine too. It was still too brutal for me.

From opening weekend, MO last year, 11/16. Rainy day made tolerable by a shooting house. To each their own, but even this shorty is a puppy with that stock. Although I wouldn't go out of my way to shoot it without a limbsaver on any other stock.
