What is the difference between the Encore and the Encore Pro Hunter. On their site they have different barrels, and webpages. So in terms of price performance and mechanics, are there differences?

EDIT: After looking around, it appears to me that the pro hunter has the swing hammer, 28" fluted barrels, and a new recoil reducing stock. Does the pro hunter come in a walnut stock?

Not that I'm aware of, Of course you can add all the prohunter goodies to a STD encore. Minus the swing hammer. My encore in the pic started life as a plain jane 24" stainless synthetic. It now has a pro hunter stock and a 20" pro hunter 460 magnum barrel.

Does anyone think that the handi-rifles are worth buying. I like the Encore's design and it seems to be a very nice rifle, but the handi's to me just seem like beginners rifle's or budget rifle's. Tell me is I am wrong.

I do not think they're worth wasting money on. I used to be into Handi's but after probably 6 frames and a dozen diffrent barrels I came to the realization that their accuracy is a total crap shoot. One day you'll shoot 2" groups only to be rewarded with 6" groups the next day shootin the same gun and ammo. I now own one Encore with soon to be 3 barrels and I couldn't be happier with my guns accuracy. I rank the Encore to be as good as just about any other rifle you can buy for less than $700

If you're the kind of guy who can get a box of ammo to last for a decade then a Handi rifle may be for you. But if you care about accuracy at all then skip the handi and buy the Encore.

As for the stocks I bought mine from Midwayusa.com

I figured that the TC was better quality, but didn't like the price. I was read about the handi's and they say that some barrels won't even fit the stock and frame easily and you have to send them in to change barrels. I figure over time, the shipping costs will make up for the encore's higher price.

When you go to buy a new barrel, does it come with a forend to fit with it...like if I would buy a BP barrel or heavy varmint barrel?

What exactly is so good about the T/C Encore? I've read a lot of posts about them, and I'm just curious. What is the Encore's niche?

I like being able to switch barrels to different caliber yourself, the fact that you can customize your gun easily, and personally I just like they way they feel in my hand. But I do not own one so my list may be limited compared to an owner.

How do you do that?

Do what? Change calibers? Buy a different barrel remove the old and put on a new one...Customize? There is a lot of different stocks, barrels and extras available, And they just feel good. Like I said I am not an owner so my list of good things about the gun is limited.

I think he was referring to the fact that the barrel is also the chamber, and since it is a single shot (break action), switching the barrel also switches the chamber, thereby allowing you to shoot whatever calibers TC offers barrel in.

Thanks, I understand now.
