Considering getting a 243 for my 12 y/o son and I to use potentially on coyotes and deer.
Looking at the TC Venture Compact and the Savage 11 Trophy Hunter youth with scope package.
I have some experience with Savage, but know nothing of the TC, nor do I know anyone that owns one.
Some observations from 'store handling' them:
TC has lifetime warranty vs. Savage's 1-year.
Fit and finish much better on the TC.
I thought the TC's unconventional gray stock inserts were a bit "cheesy".
The very short-throw bolt on the TC seemed strange after using conventional bolt guns for years.
Both have box mags.
TC has a spacer for the buttstock to increase LOP later on. would be much easier than swapping/purchasing a spare stock.
Both have adjustable triggers.
If I were to put a similar scope and rings on the TC, and considering the TC $50 rebate, the TC would only be about $50 more than the Savage.
Looking for any advice from those who have owned both, or one or the other.
Thanks!
