Teacher roughed up by Homeland Security officers

I think it's a little extreme to compare any American government agency with the GESTAPO's of Germany in the early 40's. If this scenario played out in 1940something Germany, the man would have been shot and the "media" teacher would have been taken away for torture. Then shot. It's quite different to be harrassed a little then to be killed, or worse. That's all I'm saying.

Well, the UK is one step ahead of us in this. And their troopers executed an innocent Brazilian electrician in the subway for apparently wearing a jacket.

Do we have to get to that point that some innocent American gets executed by overzealous, incompetent "homeland security" officers before we declare it's gone too far?

If so, please volunteer to explain to the victim's next of kin.

It's already happened ... remember the guy who got shot by air marshalls just because he wanted to get off the plane ...? :uhoh:

At the risk of a Godwin's Law violation, I wouldn't compare these guys to the Gestapo. For the most part the Gestapo were skilled professionals who did things by the book. It might have been a nasty book bound in human skin, but they followed it.

No, I think The Department of Homeland Security translates more correctly as the Committee for State (or National) Security - KGB in Russian.

Tin foil hats for sale...right here. Get your tin foil hat....It slices, it dices, it blocks all government scans...act now and you will get a little tin-foil badge to counter any JBT's who give you trouble and otherwise infringe upon your God given right to exist....

All this for only $6.66

But wait, there's more, free as your gift is a U.N. scanner, just hook this baby up to your television while on a channel of "white noise", drink one six pack of beer at 3AM and listen to the secret government codes coming over the airwaves.

:D to the post above.

The truth is that it is upsetting to see a trend of LEOs getting away with crimes. We have a DHS manager who is a pedophile, we have Air Marshals running drugs, LEOs in IL making machine guns, cops in CA shooting Airmen, LEOs breaking into the wrong house in MS, SWAT teams shootin Dr.'s in VA over gambling charges, and then we get to watch the courts let these people off. (Save the Air Marhsals and Pedophile; the pedophile is yet to be determined). The sad facts are the majority of Americans are allowing this kind of behavior to happen. And someone needs to speak up and be heard. We all need to. Its only going to get worse because we allow it to get worse.

do alot of police feel they are above the law?

I've met my fair share in NY City, and I'm very greatfull for it because they could have nailed me for possession with intent to sell.
Instead they made me dump my joints in the sewer:cool:
One cop took half of my 20 joints and let me keep the rest!
Told me to be more carefull:cool: another cop said "this smells pretty good"
and said he would let me go if I smoked it with him.

feeling and acting like you got more rights then civvies is a far cry from the third reich

I have met some hmeland security officers and they sorta seemed like security officers who lucked into a cushy gov't job...I was to busy to ask how they got hired...anyone know?
if you get LE rciprocity and good bennys I might try to get on.

Y'all are kind of harsh on the Homeland Security guys. Maybe they were just looking for a date...

DIdn't this guy spout off about a bomb and then reach into a bag when he was told to drop it?

Well...that one, based on the final reports, seemed more like it was a "they HAD to" shoot. If he yelled something about "bomb", and instead of dropping his backpack, reached into it, they had to shoot. It was that or chance an airplane full of people and all the ones parked nearby, fuel trucks, terminal, etc...turning into a fireball.

The UK electrician, though, no, that was idiocy. They also already had him down, but shot him in the head at close range. It was more "execution" than "stop threat".

That's the story of the two thugs that murdered him, but the other passengers heard no such thing

But just keep making tin foil jokes and refuse to believe that the govt could ever do anything worng :barf:

maybe Mr. Pickett questioned the ethnic background of one of these agents...!!!!

Does not matter. If the "officers" were professionals, such a comment would not have triggered their ire. They would know better than to rise to the bait.

The sad part, is that this is getting practically NO local media coverage. Three days after the fact, this is the first I hear of it and I live 5 miles away! :fire: :fire: :banghead:

"The part that really upsets me is all these students were watching, and that and it isn't good," Jackson said.

These kids are lucky. They learned a valuable lesson that usually comes much later in life, and they learned it in a less painfull way than most. They learned that people with badges arent necessarily on your side, and dont think for a moment that they will forget it.

The only way this would be a sad thing is if the lesson were erroneous, but it isnt. Its like getting the chicken pox, better it happens at a young age.

I have to admit, I continue to have problems with this concept of officials having to trample freedom in order to protect it... :barf:

i find it interesting that one of the other teachers thought that the most upsetting part of the whole ordeal was that the children had to see it. i would have thought that the most upsetting thing about the whole ordeal would have been that an innocent man was assaulted by government law enforcement agents. i'm glad the kids saw it...maybe it will engender some distrust of the government.
