I have a Ted Williams model 200 I bought used in like new condition with a vent rib barrel and a factory installed poly choke.

This a Winchester made shotgun with the rotory bolt lock up. I have found a barrel for a winchester model 1200 I am wanting to buy. My question is is the Ted Williams gun a model 1200 or a model 1300?

Also my gun has a 3" chamber and the new barrel has a 2 3/4" chamber. I have never bought any 3" loads so that doesn't matter to me. This barrel has already been cut down which is what I wanted it for anyway.

Any thoughts as to which model I have?

Hello Ratshooter. I compared the barrel on my Winchester 1200 to the barrel on my Ted Williams model 200 and all the machining and lugs appear to be the same. I believe the barrel will fit your Ted Williams marked Winchester.

Well thank you for that Ratshooter. For a while I was sure no one would reply to my first post. I went ahead and bid on the barrel on GB and won the auction. I'll let you know how it works out.

Your welcome Ratshooter. Oh, and by the way talking to yourself on an internet forum might raise a few flags. You better send me a PM about the new barrel.

Sorry to be a buttinski ;) but I'd be curious, as the owner of a Ted Williams, to know how this all works out.

Hello Sidheshooter either myself or ratshooter will get back to you on the barrel. We bought a second barrel for our 1200 and had it cut down and a new bead installed. It took a lot of looking to find that first barrel. They just aren't that common.

I recieved my winchester barrel a couple of days ago. The barrel did fit on my ted williams 20ga just fine. So I guess the TW shotguns are the 1200 series.

The Ted Williams Model 200 is indeed a model 1200 Winchester.

They have an alloy reciever and very nice walnut for the stock and forearm.

It has a rotary bolt and the design of the lockup between the bolt and barrel are where all the stress is from shooting and is, to me, a very good design.

I do not recall any long range mean time between failure rate tests being done with these (model 1200) shotguns but will state that all I've seen and worked on were very good shotguns and are plent good to take afield or use for HD.

It's a matter of preference with todays modern shotguns and the Rems, Wins,
Mossies' and Ithacas are around in good numbers on the used market that present some very good values for shotguns.

Rat, it don't bother me if ya talk to yerself, Hell,I do it all the time!

jlv08 thanks for understanding. I have people tell me all the time I am muttering and talking to myself. I find I enjoy my own company and often take my own advice. I even agree with most of my own opinions.

I bought that Ted Williams SG for a hundred bucks and except for a couple of light scratches it could have passed for new. I gave it to my youngest son and he out shoots everybody with it. He is a dove killin' machine. With the poly choke its kinda long. With the new barrel it looks tough. My son loved it.

I am taking it to my GS tommorow and have him install a bead on it. Then I will add a fiber optic sight and call it done.

Like you I am sold on the rotary lock up. I believe the barrel would fail before the bolt would.

A hundred for that shotgun is a great price.:)

There is a whole lot of used shotguns out there and I'm beating the bushes for a (st) deal.

We should all be looking as I don't know how long it will take congress to invent stupid laws to infringe on free commerce of firearms.

Peter King in N.Y. is footing a bill as we speak!:fire:

Per the x-ref in the Blue Book of Bun Values you guys figured it out. Those tables are worth the price of the book.
