anyone shoot a shotgun with a telescopic butt stock? I just got an email from someone who offered me a new Fabarm SAT 8 tactical with the telescopic stock but wanted some opinions on the feel of the telescopic stock.

how does a shotgun shoot with the telescopic stock (Benelli m4, etc)? Hard to handle? Uncomfortable?

I think they kick harder because the butt plate is often smaller then a regular stock.

Also, the stock fit (drop at comb, drop at heel) changes drastically when they are adjusted shorter unless you are wearing body-armor to make up the differance.

The telestock doesn't go straight back & forth like on a AR.
(Due to the receiver draw-bolt angle on a shotgun receiver putting the stock at a downward angle to the sighting plane/barrel.)

I don't even like a telestock on an AR much. Cheek weld is poor and options for comfortable head position are limited IMO.

I really wouldn't want one on a shotgun.

I think it beats the hell out of PGO. I plan on having one for a truck gun someday.

Ive got one on an 8 shot mossberg 500 and its ok, but i still prefer my fixed stock
see if you can shoot it before buying, you might like it better

Tried one for a while- didn't like it. Cheek weld just wasn't right and I couldn't get the 'rear sight' (my eye) in the right place to be able to hit anything with it.

Well, yeah, but so would a 15" piece of 2" PVC pipe duct-taped to the receiver. Well, at least if it had some good padding on the end.:)

Armed Bear, will the PVC quickly and securely adjust position? 15" is waaaay too long for my LOP, anyway.

I like the ARMS TECH 870 stock adapter coupled with a CAR-15 stock and a CAA stock side saddle cheek piece. This setup gives a very comfortable cheek weld with a bead, rifle or ghost ring sights. The Arms tech stock adapter has a 7 degree drop. The Mesa Tactical adapter is very well made but their low tube stock adapter for bead sight shotguns doesn't work well with a bead sight. It is not low enough and puts you above the bead sight.

Most adj stocks on shotguns are not comfortable and don't give a good cheek weld.

There has to be some overlap for the tape. I figured that 15" plus some padding would give room to tape it onto the receiver, and give roughly 14" LOP.

The thing about duct taping the "buttstock" on is that adjustability is engineered into the fine design.:D

If you want, I can also show you how to "customize" a modern rounded car bumper so that it protrudes less and has a bit more clearance when you're turning into the garage, at no cost.:p
