I have a chance to buy one cheap...and I have always kinda wanted one as a renge toy. I would love to hear PERSONAL EXPERINCE with this gun. I know its not a high quality target gun, but is it atleast reliable and most importantly fun to shoot.

I've had nothing but bad experiences with the newer Cobrays, but they always come in to the shop broken for me to fix. Magazine issues are frequent.

When I was in the same boat as you, I bought one of the Masterpiece Arms ones and a pile of Sten mags.

As a platform, it's fun to shoot if it works reliably. If the buyer lets you shoot it first, go for it.

my friend has the mac 10, though it's not actually a cobray. as above, it's loads of fun - when it works. it has had quite a few trips back and forth to the factory but it seems to be working well now. haven't had any magazine problems. it's fugly as sin but it's fun. he keeps it as a car gun now. i'm guessing he wouldn't have to shoot it anyway. as soon as someone gets a look at that one, they're likely to wet themselves.

Friend of mine has a couple, one semi-auto and one select fire with a silencer. The select fire is a blast to play with. Not really sure if it has any actually USE in the civilian world, but it sure can eat up a thousand rounds quick. I don't think he's experienced a lot of problems with it. I know when I fired it, it never missed a beat.

I'm not really into that sort of firearm. I don't really see a reason to own any .45 or 9mm carbine of any kind. I like lever guns in magnum calibers, but auto pistol calibers are for auto pistols IMHO. I really have no use for 'em in a long gun. You may retort the Cobray is a "pistol". Well, it's not exactly holsterable, is it?
