Tell me about bringing a revolver to calif for a week stay?

My daughter 20 and a son 18 just arrived in Ca. to visit their uncle and his family. They have her mod. 60 and a small lock box plus I told them to carry the ammo seperate and cable the box to the seat frame in the rear. They have 2 sets of keys and can reach the box if time would allow but it hardly seems ideal. I'll be glad when they leave Ca. behind.
They have traveled from Co. thru Ut. & Az. funny thing is Ut. has the same screwed up law for non permit holders. I sent them with a copy of the laws from each state as given on the ILA site and made sure they understood them.
