I recently won an auction for a Navy Arms O/U 12ga made in Italy. It was
imported by Navy Arms prior to 1990. The pictures and description put it in
great condition and the engraving on it looks amazing. The description states
this is some marks on the stock and forearm but I could always refinish it.

Here is some information that was listed about it.
THIS 12 GAUGE IS AN ITALIAN OVER/UNDER THAT WAS IMPORTED BY NAVY ARMS PRIOR TO 1990. THIS SHOTGUN HAS A CHROMED RECEIVER THAT IS COVERED WITH ENGRAVING THAT INCLUDES A BIRD ON EITHER SIDE OF THE RECEIVER AND A HOUND ON THE UNDERSIDE. THIS GUN HAS DOUBLE GOLD TRIGGERS, VENTILATED RIB, CHOKED FULL & MODIFIED, 28” BARRELS, AND A GOLD BEAD FRONT SIGHT. THIS OVER/UNDER HAS A FACTORY BUTTPLATE, TANG SAFETY, CHECKERING ON THE PISTOL GRIP AND FOREARM, AND A 13 ½” LOP FROM THE REAR TRIGGER. THIS NAVY ARMS HAS A VERY SMOOTH BREAKDOWN, SHINY BORES, AND A TIGHT LOCK-UP.

I realy can't find much in the way of information on them. Any information would be of great help.

If it was made in Italy, it should have an Italian "catalogue number" somewhere on it, if not the actual name of the manufacturer (likely Pietta); they may be marked on the inside of the shotgun, visible only after you take off the forearm and separate the barrels from the receiver.

It is likely it is made my F. Pietta. I have a Navy Arms black powder shotgun and it is also marked as made by F. Pietta in Italy. They were probably importing both lines from the same manufacturer.

Ok... I'll check her out when she comes in.
Does anyone think $280 is too much for this gun based off of description
and pictures? Is this a risk you would have taken?

If it is of decent quality and in good condition as it appears, I'd say you got a good price. The least expensive O/U I've seen is the Stoeger Condor which goes for $300 new. And it is very plain - no engraving, plain wood, etc. I have no real idea but I would bet that gun went for around $600 when new. Most of Navy Arms guns were fairly good quality.
