I guess I have been living in a cave or something because I just heard about this pistol on another thread. 9X19 said he had one and it was the best pistol ever made. I'm sure he is half jokeing but I had to look on Gunbroker to find out what it was. It looks like a large 9mm.

Does it use Glock 17 mags? I would hate to think that a pisto this large could only hold 10rds. I am interested in getting another 9mm and think this might be worth a look. I had one Glock before but it was a G-21 and way too large for my hand. Is the G-34 smaller in the grip? What other differences are there between it and the G-17?

G34 has the same butt as G17, longer barrel/slide, 3.5 lb trigger connector, taller magazine catch and longer slide stop. Probably a few more mods, but basically it is just a lengthened 17 but not as long as 17L. It fits the Box so you can shoot it in USPSA Production and IDPA Stock Service Pistol, but not in IPSC Production because the barrel is longer than 5". (How did Gaston miss that one?)

Takes G17 magazines.
10 rounds is STILL the LAW, you know.

Will fit a G17 holster if the end is open to let the muzzle stick out.

It's a really nice pistol and my most accurate Glock. My wife now uses one for home defense so I picked up a second one for myself. Both have been perfectly reliable with all ammo. One has 8k+ the other 3k+ rounds.

The standard magazines originally designed for the G17 hold 17 rounds and with a Glock factory extension will hold 20 rounds.

Hello,

Maybe 15% joking... the 34 really is a GREAT pistol.

Same grip frame as the 17, but longer slide/barrel... though the slide has a large "hole" in its top to better balance the pistol, and allow Glock to use the same guide rod/spring as the 17.

Most all model 17 upgardes will fit the 34, and it will accept any magazine made to fit the 17. It comes with two 10 round mags, of course, but there is NO LAW AGAINST using an older 17 round mag in the gun.

Good luck and have fun.

BTW, the model 35 is identical in size, but it's a .40 S&W and built on the model 22 frame.

I haven't bought a new pistol in a while, but in a few days I'll be buying a Glock 34.

I owned a Glock 17 that was perfectly reliable, and the 34 just seems pretty cool.

Love mine...

upgraded with Dawson adjustable rear sight and FO front sight..and a Charlie Vanek trigger job...

very cool gun..mine has been reliable and accurate with the stock barrel and factory ammo..

I'm a big CZ enthusiast, but I've also got a Glock 34, and it is -- indeed -- a fine weapon. Its the ONLY handgun I've got that lets me work all of the controls with my gun hand without having to adjust/change my grip...

While I prefer CZs, I have shot some of my best times with a 34, despite its having what I consider an awkward grip angle.

You can do a lot worse. Mine is exceptionally accurate. I kept the adjustable rear sight and added a night sight on the front. Other than that, its pretty stock. (I got it from a forum member; he installed a titantium firing pin/striker assembly which I've left in place -- simply because it wasn't worth the effort to change it...)

My experience is similar to Walt's (including enthusiasm for CZ-75), except I have the G35. I shot my best IDPA classifier score using my G35. I'm not crazy about the adjustable sight (I'm a 3-dot guy...looking to pick up some Mep's for this piece). I find it light but a little awkward because of it's length. My G22 fits me a little better. However, the G35 is very accurate, simple to use...goes bang every time. I'm sure the G34 has all these virtues but perhaps a little more pleasant to shoot being a 9MM.

Good luck!

I owned a Glock 34 for about two years but never really warmed up to this pistol. I was told when I decided to get a Glock that either the 34 or the 35 was the best Glock made so I went with the 9mm. It was accurate but not exceptional and I was never satisfied with the Glock trigger even after having a Glock gunsmith rework it with new parts. Due to the light weight of the 34 it seemed very easy to stovepipe jam when shooting "weak" handed in several IDPA shoots. I really had to concentrate of maintaining a proper grip and trigger pull to keep this from occuring. The 34 functioned perfectly strong hand hold. This isn't a putdown of 34 as I think there is just some pistols that function better in shooters hands than others. While a 34 isn't for me, I know several master class IDPA shooters that make them look like awesome guns! If you already like Glocks you will most likely like the 34. If the 34 is your first Glock as it was mine you might be advised to try several other 9mm's before buying IMO.

My 34 was later traded for a Beretta 92 D Centurion which is the best 9mm I have ever owned period!
