Well I today I posted a topic that was asking about a Glock 36 or a Colt Defender. Well just a little bit ago I shot a XD45 Service 4inch and loved it, so I need you to tell me why I should not get this handgun because BUDS has them for 449 with shipping right now. Im thinking about keeping my XD9 4in Service now again since I bought a Beretta M9 to replace it, maybe that was a bad idea, I dont know.

No reason not to as long as you've also checked out the S&W MP 45 before you finally decide. S&W is running a $50 rebate + two free magazine offer until some time in Jan '08.

The XD holds three more rounds but I like the MP ergonomics better. Both are very good guns, I've the XD 5" in 9mm and .45 and the MP in .40S&W.

In terms of shootability for me, I rate the major plastic guns:

S&W MP, XD, Taurus 24/7, Glock. YMMV. XD was my favorite until I shot the MP. I'd pick the Taurus if all I had to go on was dry-fire, but for me its shootability is down there with the Glock. I'm not talking accuracy off sandbags (no issues with my Glocks here) I'm talking speed shooting on steel plates where trigger, sights, and recoil recovery all determine which works best in my hands.

I'm not here to make your choices easier :)

That's easy. Your choice is either Glocks or rocks. :neener: Seriously, this is a decision you need to make. Please, no offense but folks who look to strangers on the "inter-web" for gun purchase justification make me feel a bit . That said, buy the Glock and try wearing it out.:)

The reason not to get it is......................

1. You'll soon want to get the 5" tactical
2. You'll soon want to get the sub compact
3. You'll want the same in all the different calibers

Go get it

There is not one...

I had all three 45 XD's but couldn't get used to the trigger reset however, that is not a reason for you not to get one...

One man's smooth trigger pull is another mans holy crap trigger pull :what:

Won't feed SWC. That's a big enough deal for me. My favorite load uses 200gr LSWC.

The only reason I got rid of my 4" XD45 was because I decided I wanted a XD for concealed carry. The service size XD45 does not fit me for cc and it felt too big for my hands (this was pre xd45 compact). However, I enjoyed shooting it while I had it, and I bet you will too.

I now carry an XD40sc and to satisfy my big .45 itch I bought a Kimber.

Parts availability (or lack thereof) could potentially be a problem.

How expensive and available are spare mags?
