Lasermax X.D. in .45 ACP

First of all thanks Coronach for telling the Lasermax side of the story different strokes for different folks. As far as the X.D. is concerned Lasermax currently has sights for the 3-4-5 in X.D. everything but .45 acp. Why we require every new model tested to 20,000 rds before we release it to the public. We dont want to put out a faulty product. Remember once we are in the weapon we can survive a 6 foot drop to concrete with no change in your point of impact. 66 feet underwater and of course you dont need to change holsters with us also. Now lets talk about grip of the primary shooting hand once you grasp your weapon with your firing hand you should have a firm grip like shaking hands but not a death grip to cause muscular tension. once you have that grip you should not move it or change the pressure on it. With our sight the grip you normally fire the weapon with does not need to change to activate or deactivate our sight. As far as the .45 XD it will be out within 6 months if you want to be on the list to be notified as to when its coming out go to our web site and put it in the customer service log.

Thanks CAG

Yup, I think they are that good....

I recently pickeup a XD45 Tactical.......and I'm very impressed. The gun was much easier to get good hits with than any of the many Glocks I've owned over the years. As a matter of fact, after shooting a few hundred flawless and tight grouped .45 rounds through my new XD, I decided to sell my last Glock, a G20. While I love the 10mm round, and my G20 had been pretty reliable, I just didn't shoot it as well as I did the XD45.

Besdies, I now have a few 1911's in 10mm that I shoot better:)

I just recieved my XD45 back from Canyon Creek Custom last night[less than 2 weeks door to door]. I had Rich @ Canyon Creek install Hienie Straight Eight Night Sights, smooth the trigger face[not a big deal, but I like smooth trigger faces], and perform his duty trigger job. It made a good trigger, much better. Now the trigger breaks at about 4lbs[haven't put it on a trigger pull gauge yet, but that is what it feels like, and what he advertises it at], but more importantly, less than 1/8th " pre-travel, less than 1/8th " travel @ sear/striker engagement, and less than 1/8th " overtravel.

Reset is approx 3/16th" with an audible "click".

All in all VERY shootable. If this makes sense, imagine the travel of your current XD trigger.....ok, now imagine all of the "slack" that was removed from mine came off the rearward section of the travel....in other words, after the trigger job, the striker release is now earlier in the travel of the trigger, meaning that I get great trigger finger placement @ striker release. Subtle, but it makes a big difference to me...especially shooting "up to speed". From my quicky range session last night, it looks like accuracy shooting and controlled pairs will be greatly enhanced....and certainly better than I could achieve with any of the Glocks that I've own[most of them].

BTW, the Heinie Sights are MUCH better than the stock sights[and the stock sights were MUCH better than GLOCK stock sights].....nice, tall serrated ramp on the front with a tritium lamp, and of course a serrated rear blade, with a tritium lamp.

I do believe this gun could use a bit lighter recoil spring, but I'm sure there will be some aftermarket stuff out after awhile. That being said, funtioning has been flawless, even with CCI shotshells:eek: I just think that the gun would recoil "flatter" with a lighter spring[stock wieght feels like 22 lbs or so.

Regarding lasers......yup, I'm a Criimson Trace Fan also, but this is too nice a gun to pass on just because they don't make a unit for it yet. This gun will mainly be a "Horse Pistol" for me.....in the vehicle traveling, into Motels rooms on the road, etc. I think that I'm going to try the Streamlight light/laser combo for this purpose.

All in all, a very nice handgun.....at a great price. Canyon Creek made it better.

Got mine today

I stopped by my local gun store to take a look and said, what the hell! Only took me 15 minutes from the time I walked in to the time I walked out. It would have been even less time, but I had a gift certificate I spent five minutes looking for. And they finally had the hi cap mags for my HK USP Compact 40, so I had to get two of those. I paid $499.00 for mine, which is probably too much, but they had it and I wanted it. Now to get some ammo and start shooting!

But when you are talking triggers, the 1911 has no peers.

Agreed for autoloaders...

However, I would argue that a good S&W revolver (especially one made before the MIM and lock era) has a single-action pull that matches a 1911, at least mine does.
