Text of federal court order against gun confiscations
This pertains to the lawsuit by the NRA and the Second Amendment Foundation, challenging the recent gun confiscations in and around New Orleans. On September 23, 2005, federal judge Jay Zainey of the Eastern District of Louisiana issued a "consent order" that prohibits local authorities in New Orleans and Tammany Parish, Louisiana, from confiscating firearms from persons who "lawfully" possess them, and orders the return of such firearms already confiscated. Any person who lawfully possessed a firearm that was confiscated, and who wants to join in this lawsuit, should contact the lead local counsel in the case, Daniel D. Holliday of the Long Law firm in Baton Rouge, at [email protected]. I will attempt to post the actual PDF file of the order along with this post.
