[strike]Instead of starting a whole new thread I'm editing this one so you all are aware [strike]we got through the House Criminal Justice Committee and the next hurdle is the House Finance, Ways, and Means Subcommittee (where they sucker punched us last year).[/strike] this bill passed through Committee and is headed to the floor for the vote on MONDAY! Please call and email![/strike]

[strike]Keep it simple and ask your Rep to vote in favor of HB1883.

You can find your Representative here: http://www.capitol.tn.gov/legislators/

Whether writing or calling, all that is necessary is to simply ask that they vote YES on HB1883. That's it, keep it short and to the point.

As long as there are no games played by the leadership this has a great chance to become law with your help.[/strike]

Signed by Governor Haslam today! - http://wapp.capitol.tn.gov/apps/BillInfo/Default.aspx?BillNumber=SB1771

Wolverine, if you want a similar bill passed in KY go to www.kniferights.org and join. Take a look at all the success they've had in repealing switch blade bans in just the past few years. Or come see me and hso as we volunteer at the Knife Rights booth at Blade in Atlanta if you can make it down this June.

It is surprisingly easy to just sit down and punch out the emails and phone calls when you're just saying "Please vote YES for HB1883", and that's all that is needed. Once it gets through Finance it is headed to scheduling and on to the Floor for the vote where it will pass. Getting through Finance is critically important to getting to that general vote.

OH, the undoing of the progressive reforms of the 1950s!

Oh Tempura! Oh Morays! Legalized switchblades?!?! What is next? Seduction of the innocents by legalized "Tales from the Crypt" comic books? Teenagers running about in ducktail (D.A.) hair cuts and motorcycle jackets? Letting your kids watch Superman, Popeye and Three Stooges on television!? Are the lessons taught by the moral crusaders of the 1950s going unheeded?

Careful there Carl. ;) We're, us Tennesseans, partly "responsible" for the particular silliness back then when Estes Kefauver held insane hearings prescient of the current "assault weapon" lies today. :banghead:

I think it would be particularly poignant if we could kill his legacy on switchblades in this state.

Great news. Tennessee is following her heritage of States' Rights and freedom from tyranny.. This I like to hear.

There should be no ban or sales to military of le personnel only. I could buy what is considered the best button opening knife in the world in Europe w/o problems. Quite surprisingly the weapon is made in Santa Fe California USA.
The top of the line model costing many hundreds of euros looked like it came from tomb of Tutankhamun!
