SB1771 was voted out of the Senate Judiciary Committee and passed to the Calendar Committee on a 6-1 vote (with an abstention) to be scheduled for a floor vote. This bill would repeal the ban on switchblades and the vague ban on carrying a knife over 4 inches in length "with the intent to go armed".

If you live or travel in Tennessee please politely and briefly contact the relevant TN state Senator and ask them to vote in favor or SB1771 (or to lend their support to it).

You can find TN Legislators at www.capitol.tn.gov/legislators/ and enter a street and city address. If you travel through various districts you should contact each Senator for that district (I work in one and live in another and carry out a lot of shopping in a third) since you have an interest in their vote as well. I've sent emails to those 3 as well as the Senate leadership and encourage you to as well.

PLEASE keep it short and polite and to the point. If they don't know what the specific legislation is about their staff will and all they need to know is that a voter supports it and is looking for their support as well.

Senator ABC,

I support SB1771 and ask that you lend your vigorous support to SB1771 as well.

Thank you,

XYZ

Representative Matlock and Senator Mcnally have been contacted. Very easy to do, thanks for the link.
