Does the club have loaner Garands for first-timers?

I might know some kids at the UT Club who might want to shoot in the match. That match factors into their eligibility to buy CMP rifles for the year, right?

Correct on all counts.

It's a sanctioned match by the State Org. We do have loaners. All you need is entry fee and earplugs.

M1 Carbine, Foreign Military, and 1903 match as well.

This satisfies the range requirement for buying from the CMP.

Can you post a direct link to the CMP Match info, or else post what time folks should show up?

If you can get it posted, I'll email the mailing list for the UT Rifle & Pistol Club. With rifles and ammo included in Match fees, I bet we'll have a few college kids who want to go.

Yeah, as one of the aforementioned UT Club members, I'd be interested. What's the details on the match? Personally I'd like to shoot a garand as I'm interested in perhaps buying one.

Kind of like finding Waldo, except when you find him he has a Garand and 156 rounds of ammo.

As Matt mentioned, I'm one of those UT students needing a ride.

But I'd figure it'd be real fun to actually shoot M1's and Springfields rather than just doing Rifle Drill and tossing them about with our NROTC rifles (that have cement down the barrel...boo).

But I won't bite, don't smell bad...etc...a ride would be appreciated if you are driving up I-35... Private message me if willing to help.

Ask them both about rides and if Paul LaBerge is coming up. LaBerge and some other Austin Guys usually run this match and drive up from Austin for it.
You get there, we will have rifles for you to shoot and folks to show you how to shoot them.

You ought to check out the Austin Rifle Club. They shoot at Temple every Sunday but one and on that Sunday they shoot at Manor.
