Yesterday I had the pleasure of introducing yet another state LEO who is seeking federal employment to the joys of firearms. She had grown up with firearms, but had no experience with guns other than looking at them in her father's and uncles' gun cabinet.

She had purchased a Ber M21 in .25 acp after grad school when she was living in Indianapolis working for a large firm. She had not shot it before yesterday.:uhoh: (For some reason young women always buys these small goofy guns, must be pushed by store clerks or something).

After the safety and mechanics lecutre, we started with .22 pistols and revolvers, then K frame .38, a Glock 17, a Glock 22, and a Kahr P9. With "air" gun, then "empty", then dry practice, then live. She declined shooting my .45 after I demo'd with my stoutish carry loads (parts of the river clay berm landed on her and may have freaked her out--nothing stops bullets like clay).

We ended with shotguns. Using the excellent advice I received on TFL, we started with a Ber A303 and a Rem 1100 Yute in 20 ga. The gas guns do the trick and its stocks are short enough for females. This is the fourth time that I've done this and it works like a charm everytime.

Though she complained about the weight of the 870 (ST "FBI Model"), she took to running the weapon empty quite readily. Starting with AA trap loads we progressed to #4 buck, no slugs the first day.

I have know introduced many from my former agency to firearms. Three now serve with the FBI, one is pending a medical re-exam (vision screen was "too good" so Virginny wants to confirm, but the guys has off the chart eyes, like 20/12 or something), and one is on the callback list.

I owe what "success" I've had to the kind and patient advice that I received at TFL and now relate here. Thanks, guys.:)

Let's hope it makes some difference out there.
