How many guys can say that? :)

We planned on going to this weekend's local gun show. Then, earlier in the week, she was the first caller and won free tickets to the show on a local radio station. She had never won anything on the radio before so she was pretty excited.

So we took our two free tickets down yesterday and spent a few hours shopping. Finally after a lot of browsing and narrowing it down, she settled on a 870 Wingmaster in 98%. She got it for $300. The guy even let her pay with a check which was very cool and unexpected.

I think that the gun could have been unfired it's in such good condition. There were about 4-5 of those Wingmasters at the show with the 2 3/4 shell size and she wanted the one in best condition. She had gone to the show thinking she might want a 20 ga but changed to a 12 because she thought it fit better.

When we get some nice weather, my brother is going to come down and she can test it out shooting some clays.

Great day. :D

Congratulations to her...

Make sure the gun fits properly, consider rounding off the toe of the recoil pad a bit if necessary and if she's new to shotguns, make sure she starts out with light loads.

I've been gun shopping with my sister. She ended up getting a LEO marked M&P 40 with night sights. She just recently moved out on her own, so I figure I will take her shopping for a 20ga pretty soon. Seems like your Ma has good taste. Those older Wingmasters are nice guns.

Congrats to your Mom. She certainly has good taste. The Wingmaster is one of the finest pump action shotguns ever made. Remington has made more than 1,000,000 of them.
$300 for a 98% gun is a very good price in my opinion. A few years ago I bought one at an estate sale in the same condition for $375. I may have paid more than I should have but I knew the guy who had owned it and a little bit of his background. He was a Viet Nam era Special Forces soldier who actually served in Viet Nam. I knew he took extremely good care of his firearms so the price was right with me. I was not disappointed. I doubt that your mother will be disappointed in her choice.
