Mentors did it to me. Just passing forward is all. :p

Cleaning shotguns.

Some of the kids have Grandparents wrapped around their little fingers.

Every notice Grandma's deny getting wrapped by anything or anyone?

Anywho

Grandpa, ya know I really really like the cleaning kits you got me. I like the one piece one, and I like that Otis one, but that Patchworm dealie is kinda neat, I do not have one, and if I had one I could help mom clean her guns, and you of course when come down.

Oh, that place has Ballistol too and I am kinda low since I do share with the other kids.

So with the invent of Internet, Grandpa goes to 20/20 Concepts
http://patchworm.com/patchworm.html , and basically goes Grandpa bonkers.
Grandpa's go bonkers. Grandma's do not. Something else I have noticed. *ahem*

Granddaughter gets bascially .17 to 12 ga, short, long, field buttons patches, Ballistol...
...mom too.

I like this part:

Mom, we need to use your kit to make sure it works, me being a kid and all I do not need to take a chance on losing anything from my stuff.

What results? Seems everyone was overdue to have shotguns and barrels cleaned.

Don't matter some were just cleaned, still overdue.

Now this little twerp...I mean wonderful young lady has her own battery operated drill.

One guess who she talked into getting one "her size".

Oh yeah she knows all about using a battery drill with a cleaning rod, brush and wisps of 0000 steel wool or finest grit of Scotchbrite Pad [tm].

I remember very well having this gal [strike] in my way [/strike] watching so intently the first time I shared this with her mom.

This being Friday night, and normally "girls night", meaning she and mom do something like rent a movie, get a pizza and eat chocolate...

Invited other ladies and kids and having a shotgun cleaning party - but it is okay if you bring other stuff ya want cleaned too.

Yeah seems Chocolate and Pizza showed up too...

Well at least some kids are being [strike] put to good use [/strike] being raised right.

:D

Made me smile on a Monday Morning. My little one will be helping soon enough! :)

Kids are for being kids. It's just that some kids find more constructive ways of being kids than others 8^). Of course sometimes they need help from other kids to discover those ways, especially if there are kids around that have had forty or fifty years of practice at being kids.

What else are kids good for, after all, if not perpetuating and perpetrating childhood?

lpl/nc (47 years of practice... and counting)
