I sort of sensationalized my thread title. The ATF only wanted to look at my C&R bound book because I am applying for my Class 01 FFL. He said the format I had wasn't exactly what they had for the C&R, so I needed to fix it. My format had everything the other one had, but it didn't look the same. No big deal, he just said to please fix it.

So my question is this, who imported my K-31. I just took the whole thing apart and I don't see a CAI or anything anywhere. Boy the blueing on this beauty looks great underneath the wood. Any ideas where to look? If I can't find it then I guess I just put Switzerland for the manufacturer eh? Or is it Schmidt Ruben? Probably Schmidt Ruben.

Thanks for your help and make sure your C&R bound book looks exactly like the one the ATF has or you might be in trouble. If you need a copy of mine sent to you, e-mail me.

Mine is marked on the receiver near the original Swiss serial number. I know some were marked at the end of the barrel somewhere. I think SIG is the actual manufacturer.

Well Schmidt Rubin is the new manufacturer and there is no importer. You know, I need to figure out what I am going to do when I let me 03 expire because I have an 01. I am pretty sure I keep the 03 records and they don't need to be submitted to ATF.

If there is no importer, probably the closest thing is who made the barrel and reciever. It's either SIG or Hammerli. You have to remove the stock and look underneath. If it's a SIG, it will have an "N" with a rifle across the N (some just have the N) stamped, and a Hammerli (I think) has a hammer stamped.

A little OT here....

Are you getting your 01 in preparation of opening a shop or are you going to be a private dealer?

Both. The shop is small and mainly is for special order. You tell me what you want, I give you a quote, you like it, pay for it, I order it, we do paperwork, you wait ten days, you take it home, you shoot it, you like it, you come back for more. That isn't necessarily in that order. I will order just about anything if I can make 10% on it. If I can't, then I will tell you where to order it yourself, unless you still want to pay more and have me order it. I'll take anyone's money.
