After many years of casting 230 grn RN for my .45 with a Lyman 4-cavity mold, I decided to try one of these from Lee:

Simply put... this thing rocks the house! It's super-easy to use, and a LOT lighter than the Lyman. And those 6-Cavities can empty out a pot of lead mighty fast. Aluminum is fine for casting... better in some ways.

The sprue cutter is on a hand lever... seems better than smacking the plate with a hatchet handle like I've been doing. Easy-peasy, lemon squeezy. :)

I treat all my molds with graphite spray and the bullets drop right out. With this mold I lube and shoot as cast... no sizing at all. Tumble Lube does it fast.

And man... soooooooo accurate! About the best accuracy I've gotten EVER with my Colt Series 80 1911. This is a great mold, folks... and drops out super bullets. My alloy is wheel weights with a little tin solder, which I probably don't really need. My charge is 5.8 of Unique: good sturdy load that approximates factory ball. Feels great to fire them off. :)

I shoot a lot of .45 and this is as good as it gets, IMO... did I mention it's Fast and Easy? :)

Try it... it won't disappoint! :)

Glad to see that you have had good results. Want another excellently accurate bullet?

Try their 200 gr. LSWC. I size mine to .452 in a Star Lubrisizer, and usually load them with 3.5 to 3.8 of Clays. VERY accurate to 50 yards; I use these for Bullseye competition.

I've got several of the Lee 6 hole molds, they do work very well. The 6 hole holds up a LOT better than the one and 2 hole molds also, maybe it doesn't actually hold up better but you get at least 3 times more bullets before it is worn out. I like the 200gr SWC too Powderman, I've shot LOTS of them.

I get about 1200-1500 bullets per hour out of mine with forced cooling and a real hot melt, much faster than anything else I have used and worlds less work than a four hole iron block rig.

I will be starting to cast soon for my .45 acp, and I will be casting lee's tumble lube 200 gr SWC bullet.
