Of the calibers that you mentioned I would recomend any of them for hunting purposes, however for long range shooting the 7mm mauser and the 06 are automaticly out, and I don't think the 7mm Mag is a great choice either with the exception of the T3 Varmint 7 mag in the production classes. A 7mm-08, 308, 6.5-284, 300 WSM, or the 6mm PPC are much better choices, short actions just rule the highest level shooting contests, Especaly the 6.5-284 from what I understand. For hunting the 06 is king, and the 7mm Mauser an all time fav for handloaders.

Sorry, but the '06 when properly loaded can be an excellent LR rifle cartridge. And, who does any LR shooting with factory ammo? I shot the .30-06 in 1,000 yard F Class Competition for several years with the following load:

Lapua Brass
Fed 210M Primer
60.7gr RL22 Powder
190SMK Bullet
2900fps Velocity
30MOA Elevation from a 100 Yard Zero

Want to see the resurgence of the '06 in competitive shooting? Simply allow the '06 in the T/R Class of F Class Competition, which is currently restricted to .223 and .308.
