The company lists the CCI cb shorts and the cb longs as having exactly the same ballistics. So the question is why even consider using the shorts when the bullet is going to have that much freebore? I suppose the cb shorts would be great if your rifle were chambered for shorts. That is the only time they might make sense.
I have a trapper friend who uses the cb shorts and shuns the cb longs. I think it is solely due to the fact that the trapping literature has recommened for decades that .22 shorts (regular ones) are the bullets used for killing trapped critters. This causes him great agony because the CCI CB shorts are often very hard to find around here. I can't seem to make him understand the CCI longs have exactly the same ballistics, may be more accurate, and won't foul his chamber as badly.
