The Chilling Toll of Allah's Sniper

If true, why do we not have SF killer teams disguised as journalists? It would seem that they can go everywhere and talk to anyone.
Because after the first couple of "incidents", the terrorists will simply shoot journalists on sight and assume they're American death squads. Then any advantage of being able to get close is lost and noncombatant journalists get wasted.

Well I found out that it may be a propaganda story to inspire US soldiers. Aparently its loosely based on a group of militants. I dont have the whole story but apparently it was supposed to be passed out to soldiers only. Obviously the facts were highly imbelished.

First let me say I have seen a scoped AK-74 in the hands of a SF pop ???? out at about 600m. Do not understimate a really good sniper with a dragunov who knows his gun reaching out to 1000m. Now if its probable I can think off the top of my head a handful of people that with practice may get that far. The russian military has some credited kills that far with a Drag, but its like all good guns if you tweek them and get a good one you can shoot better. Maybe even get one lucky shot. Had a person in Iraq miss my head by about 1 foot from 700m. Just playing devils advocate I still think its bull????.

Tactics of the Cresent Moon is the book you need if you want to know how muslims attack, and why. Probably by far the best all in one, to include some great history and tactics from way back in the day untill now.

Can anyone get me the info about how many soldiers have been shot and killed by a bullet since the start of the war?

To underestimate the enemy is dangerous, to overvalue him is equally dangerous.

Cordex might be onto something, any strategy that would thin the ranks of the media pukes would be worth looking into.

I just made this...

Abu Othman was glad of his headphones. He played his favourite verses from the Koran and their soothing flow cleared his mind, infusing him with a determination to see through the assignment, come what may. He prayed for God to deliver his target.

A 'sniper' who covers his ears with headpones? Goooooood, goooooooooood! </MrBurnes>

“Then the call came on my mobile phone, informing me that the soldier and his vehicle were finally heading my way,†he said.

AAAAND he has a cell phone?!?! GooooooooOOODDDD!!! GOOOOOOOOOOOODDDDDDD!

He'll be made swiss cheese in no time by the kids of the SEAL who consulted for the Deer Hunter flic, and was ignored by the director.

It's classic propaganda.

Indications.

1. The U.S. soldier is portrayed as doing something that is odious to ALL muslims. That means that whether they're for or against U.S. occupation they're going to feel that this particular soldier needed to get whacked.

2. It portrays the U.S. soldiers as anti-muslim or at the very least totally ignorant and callous about muslim convictions.

3. The sniper acts under the direct guidance and at the request of the muslim holy man/leader.

4. The holy man/leader only decided that the soldier must be killed after repeated offenses.

5. The U.S. soldier is killed in the VERY ACT of committing the repulsive behavior.

Now, to more practical issues.

What soldier is going to stand out in the open and urinate off an armored vehicle in a potentially hostile area? What are the odds that he'd do it in exactly the same neighborhood every time. Why would a muslim sniper need the blessing or request of another leader to tell him to whack one of the enemy?

It's very carefully crafted propaganda and that's it's biggest giveaway--it's just way too perfect from the viewpoint of an anti-American trying to convince a muslim who might be wavering on the edge...
