Gun $509
Tax on gun $31
Holster $35
Class $85
Ammo for class $20
Permit $93
Parking at courthouse $2
Carry ammo $5
Total: $780

This doesn't count the two holsters already bought, and one or two more I might buy to try and find the right one. Or a spare mag holster, or the 2 extra spare mags I bought. Or the other ammo bought for practice/carry. Or the pocket pistol, holster and ammo...

How much do you have in your conceal carry permit?

Yes, I know, "defending myself the day I really need it: priceless" :neener:

Gun $500 (used Kimber)
Tax on gun $0 (FTF sale)
Holster $90(?) (Milt sparks Summer Special II)
Class $55
Ammo for class $20 (FMJ)
Permit $90
Disclosure fee for Mission Hospitals $15 (IIRC, they check for hospitalization for drugs or alcohol)
Parking at courthouse $0 (no one in the booth)
Renewal $75
Parking at courthouse again $0 (no one in the booth)
Another Disclosure fee for Mission Hospitals $15
Carry ammo $22 (Roughly $1/shot)

Total for NC: $880

TN: $0. I'm gonna have to take time off of work to do it. I still work in NC, and therefore pay income taxes to them, but they don't do non-res.

On another side note, I've had $35 holsters. You get what you pay for.

Five times more than you spent and one of the best bargains there is. I don't put a price tag on defense of one's life in lethal situations. I'm just glad I can.

Dan

Kahr MK9: $600
500 rounds of 9mm ammo: $140
License to Carry Firearms: $25
Pocket holster: $15
OWB holster: $45
Depreciation on car to drive to gun store: $30
Used Glock 36 for wife after she decided shooting might be fun: $400
250 rounds of .45ACP: $110
Glock 19 for wife, after she decided that .45ACP was a little too much recoil: $500
250 rounds of 9mm: $70
License to carry firearms for wife: $25
Holster for Glock: $50
3 day handgun course for both of us + ammo: $1300

Being part of a family that enjoys the shooting sports (and practicing for self-defense) together: priceless

Almost fifty handguns at an average cost of $750...Don't want to know. I can ratonalize a lot of it by saying that I have done a lot of "buy one, sell one" and haven't lost "too much" on most of them, as I generally buy used and find decent deals. I only have about ten per cent of that total today, so five times $750...yeah, I can do that math. :)

Holsters? Probably one per gun...but sometimes four or five for one gun. Again, I've had a number of 1911s, so buying five 1911 holsters isn't the same as buying five holster per 1911. Same for S&W revolvers. See? I'm pretty good at rationalizing (guess I've had some practice:))

Permit: I think it was $140 to the state and about $95 to the instructor, the first time. Each renewal was less on both counts.

Ammo, training, range time? I don't want to think about it.

The last few years it's been handloading equipment and supplies. Again, you don't want to know, and neither do I.

But shooting is also recreational, so I consider it an enjoyment expense. The older I get, the fewer of those I have.

$75 fingerprint and background check fee in Georgia. Renewal fee is same every 5 years.
No class required.
That is ~ they dont require you to formally take a class. Whether you have class or not is irrelevant.
Guns and ammo already owned.
Nylon ambidextrous holster $18
Nylon inside the pant holster $10

Weapon (including tax and NICS fee): 275
Holsters: 50
Proofing and carry ammunition: 50
License fees, including prints: 116
Training: Unknown (acquired in law enforcement)

Thousand's & Thousand's This year bought six hand gun's , conceal carry class for me and wife plus conceal carry permits for both of us and a stash of extra ammo. Not finished yet one more gun when i make up my mind what to get , now have from 380 to 45cal all autos. I have two holster for each gun :D

Without the boring detail, over $1,000 and still climbing. The most frustrating part (for me) has been the piece by piece ala carte journey and limited ability to try on gun/holster/belt rigs all in one place. I've heard from too many people reporting that they have a drawer/box full of holsters that did not quite work as planned. If only I had a spare million, I could create a very succesful business and make the process much easier.

I have a few of the holster that didn't work out my self.

Let me give you a great lesson in the cost of Open Carry.

Gun: $600 (G3 Clone)
Sling: $30
Magazine: $6
Ammunition: $4
Expression, Freedom, Pownage, and Education: Priceless
Peace Of Mind: Priceless!!

Total: $640

Nebraska class $100
Nebraska permit $100 good til August 2013
Florida Permit $117 Good til Oct 2018
Total $317

Didn't include guns or ammo already had them and the holsters.

NH

CCW permit: $10. Goes to the town. No state registration. No fingerprinting. No treating a citizen like a criminal.

No required class so state doesn't pocket a hundred bucks there.
No sales tax. Again, state keeps its hand out of your pocket.
And there's plenty of parking. For free.

About 5 grand so far. I will let you know final price when that time comes unless I out live you all.

Concealed Carry
New Kimber Pro Carry II - $875
Horady Critical Defense Ammo - $32/25 rounds
Blackhawk holster - $27

Total - $934

Surviving a violent attack - Priceless

I don't want to know. The gun, 2x mags, mag pouch, ammo, holster and belt I'm wearing right now cost well over $1k. Add in permit costs, concealment clothing, range time, memberships, ammo, gas, other guns and holsters... I really don't want to know.

It cost me over $5,000 in legal fees partly because I was legally carrying.

Some LE agencies don't like civilians carrying and some municipalities like to use your right to carry against you. If you want to keep that right and keep your record clean that can be used against you to extort legal fees and such. Slightly off topic but not really.

P.S. Paying the $5,000 extortion fee allowed the charges to be dropped in my case. Wish I wasn't carrying that day!

In CT it cost me a little over $300 in course cost and misc. fees to get a Pistol Permit, then $60 every 5 years. I'm not figuring gun costs in because I bought those just because I wanted them. :p
