The current striker-fired selections

Hey Packarat! Strikers? Plastic?

About strikers...I'm not an enthusieast. Personally, I like visible hammers. But I bought a 24/7Pro in 9mm awhile back in hope of being a bit easier on the old joints and muscles on a long day at range. didn't work out that way. I found I got bashed harder than I got from my all steel 1911 45acp. I've looked at several other polymer guns but haven't been able to bring myself to acquire one. I'm looking (seriously??) at another steel 1911 45acp. The more I look at it the more I think that's the only way to go!

I like my XD-The Glocks I have shot felt pretty good to me too. Many of your choices I am not familiar with. I know this has been said here before but I would suggest shooting as many of your choices as possible even if you have to rent them. It might cost some more money now but could be cheaper than buying a gun you don't like.

If you want something exceptionally soft on your joints, get a all steel CZ 75 or sig P226 in 9mm, the recoil is almost hard to notice.

Just bought a M&P 9 last week after renting a few,I tried glock,xd and the M&P.I liked them all and it was a hard choice. All were accurate non missed a beat.In the end I bought the M&P because of the way it pointed and fit my hand and it was very accurate.I bought it primarilly to get my lady into shooting IDPA and she loves it.That said last weekend after putting 200 rounds through it I picked up my 1911 for a few rounds and it just does'nt get better than that.
Bob.

I have the Ruger SR9 and really like it. It is nice and accurate. Has a good mag capacity of 17.

As far as the Ruger compared to the Glock the Glock 17 would be a better comparison than the 19. I personally think Ruger took the Glock 17, cloned it, changed a few things, and viola the SR9 was born.

I think the two tone SR9 is a very sexy firearm.

Here's another vote for the Walther P99. The interchangable backstraps make it the right fit for many different-sized hands, and the doggone thing is as dependable and accurate as anything on the market at any price, IMO.

Another Walther P99

I do like the Glock 19 alot, however, sold mine and bought the P99 compact and the full size P99 both in 9mm.

Of all the semi-auto's I have owned, I now only have the 2 Walther's and 2 Sig's, P220 .45 and P226 in 9, these are all keepers.

If I could keep only 2 of these, I would keep the full size P99 and the sig. P226.
