I just got one and I have to say that it is great.

For years,Ive been using an RCBS primer pocket swager on a RS3 on my bench that was dedicated to the swaging primer pockets. It was OK, but for some unknown reason Id be cranking along on my Dillon 550B and all of a sudden Id smash a primer that acted like the pocket still had a bit of crimp in it. Not good for uniformity and dang sure ugly.

Due to the constant comments and discussions about it with a fellow reloader I finaly broke down and ordered one.

All I can say is WOW !

I cant beleive that I struggled with anything else but that.
It works so well,so easy and so quickly that I can heartly reccomend it to anyone that needs some swaging.

It cut my swaging time down to about a third of the time that it used to take me. I love the thing.

Now...if they only made one for a .50 BMG...:D

That is the problem with Dillon, we KNOW they make the best stuff but we try not to pay them what they want for it and frustrate ourselves with lesser equipment before finally paying the piper and getting what we should have gotten in the first place!!!!! We see the Dillon price and KNOW the stuff is beyond reproach and carries a warranty that is exactly ludicrous, yet we try to get by with something else because it is cheaper.

I am terminally cheap, and it is more expensive than just getting the best up front. I am seeking help, but it doesn't look good for el cheapo, yours truly.

Are you referring to their "Super Swage 600", the $78.99 one?

If so do you have to adj. it for ea. individual brass mfg.like the RCBS?

TIA

C.H.

Yep, thats the one.

So far, I have not had to adjust it for individual makes of brass.

I've done .223,300 Whisper and .308.

You do have to adjust for the size of the cartridge but that takes all of about 5 seconds. Once its set, you dont mess with it.

We do??? That's kind of a broad statement there, Mr. Smith. That implies that ALL Dillon products are first-rate and all other brands are second-rate. Some folks might disagree. I know I do.

I agree that Dillon makes good products but don't necessarily think that they are the be-all and end-all of reloading in all its aspects.

Dillon PP Swager

Thanks for the post, Watchman. I've been considering getting one for quite a while and just keep putting it off thinking it won't work any better than what I'm already doing(RCBS swagers and crimp removersand deburring/chamfer tools).Knew there had to be something better 'cause they just don't cut it. Thanks again.

kimbernut,

Go ahead and get one. When you do, you'll kick yourself in the tail for not doing it sooner.

It is sooooo much easier. For one thing, you just put the case on the mandrel and it automatically lines up, you dont have to quide it in like you would with the RCBS. That alone saves lots of time. Its a cam operated thing, and the compound leverage makes it easy. Get it and you'll put all of your other stuff away.
