Ok..I've had the gun for a year and a half, and got to say...Impressed!! it has never FTF, FTE or left me hanging...the trigger amazes me, as it has everyone who's shot it..sweet in double action, even sweeter in S/A mode...it's rare for me to really rave about something, but this gun has always done me proud, I've recently started re-loading, and it eats up my lead rounds nicely. My only gripe is one of the magazines (it comes with 3 !!)wont lock the slide back when empty, after having a good look, it seems that the follower is the culprit on that mag...(it is the one that I leave loaded most of the time). The magazine follower is what pops up the slide lock lever, so I assume it's a weak spring...have heard this before from others, and not a major problem, just an inconvenience. It's accuracy and reliability are Awesome, and it "handles" nice to boot.. Would love to hear some thoughts and/or comments from other owners, or anyone who has .02 to put in..

I agree with you 100%. I have an FNP-9 and FNP-40. Love em both. Just really good guns--accurate, affordable, feel great in the hands, reliable. Nuff said.

My FNP9 is like CZ was 4 years ago - one of the best kept handgun secrets in the USA. I just picked one up LNIB for $300 out the door. Bet you won't be able to touch that in a couple years for double the price. Great gun at a great price!!

I had one before - and the mags aremy 1 complain. No one makes aftermarket mag springs, and I had 2 mags replaced. I asked Bob at FN about it - as on the Fn Forum, I;ve seen the same complaints about the slide not locking back, and people having to get mags replaced.

Apparently, FN doesn't see it as enough of a problem to fix it - that was his words.

If someone comes out with +10% mag springs, I'd be tempted to buy another.

But, the FNP is being discontinued in favor of the FNX now anyway. I can't speak about those mags

I'm presently shopping for a new 9mm, and the FNP-9 is at the top of my list right now. I actually wanted the newer FNX-9, but since it is only offered with a 17 round magazine, it's not legal in the State of New Jersey, the FNP-9 originally being my second choice, now became my first....

I'm still not 100% sure as yet, being an old steel gun guy, I still have some hesitations about buying a poly framed gun......

I have an FNX9 and love it. The FNH models are still in their cat and the people at browning say it will be for quite some time until more feedback comes in on the FNX models.

My twin brother let me try his 9mm once. It shot straight and true. My only problem with the gun was that it always went back to DA on every shot I fired. I thought it was the gun, but I realized that the way I was holding the pistol, like any other and every other semiauto I fired, my thumb from my shooting hand kept on decoking the decoker. It was not the gun's fault at all. It was my style of shooting. But otherwise I think it is an excellent gun!

Slide not locking back

I have only shot an FNP, once. But I had this issue on one of my other pistols. I found out there were two problems. The follower wasn't pushing up very hard. And the other problem was the notch in the slide was too far back and way too small. When the slide was hand racked, the slide lever went up, then immediately got pushed back down when the notch ran out. On the way back to battery, it would try to go back up but didn't have enough time. I could see where the notch was worn a bit from almost catching.

I fixed the latter problem with a Dremel and a cutoff wheel.

I liked my FNP-9 so much I bought a FNX-40. I really like that gun.
As a side note: I cut the decocker level off on the left side of the FNP-9 as I was occasionally tripping it with my thumb. I'm a 1911 guy and I ride the safety on my 1911s. The FNX-40 has a safety/decocker and I have had zero problems with it even though I do rest my thumb on it as well. You really have to push it down quite a bit to decock the gun.

I want an FN 5.7 so bad I can taste it.

Got one of those too. Most fun I've had shooting at the range since I can remember. The round leaves the barrel at over 2200 fps, pretty amazing. Almost no recoil, and the pistol is so light you think it's a toy. If you get the chance, shoot one at night. The muzzle flash is like that on a high power round out of a Colt Python - serious fun!

I can't say my FN-9 is my FAVORITE but its right up there now. Its shockingly accurate and very comfortable. It is a great gun without a doubt and now it makes me want the FNX just because :)

FNX40 is my new nightstand gun. I'm waiting on a holster so it can be added to the carry quiver. The backstrap would come loose so I found the one that fit me best and super glued it on. That's the only complaint I have; not a single failure of any kind. Feels and looks great IMO, a very good value. I have'nt taken the mags apart yet but from what I can see through the witness holes, the springs are beefy. The recoil assembly and sights are very nice also. Three mags and quality box, I give it two thumbs up to my friends and family.
