Just wanted to share how much fun I've been having with my HiPoint .40 carbine; maybe someone else looking for a fun plinker with some punch if needed will benefit as well.

Now, I'll admit that I was biased towards the HiPoint carbines in general and mine in particular. That said, I'll explain why I've liked shooting it so much that I think anybody would.

I was drawn to HiPoint carbines initially by the price; I'll admit I'm a cheap s o b. In fact, it was so cheap I didn't have to buy it: traded a bunch of .45 target ammo I'll never need. So, as I said, I was biased in their favor in general and now mine in particular (and it gets better).

I had picked up a set of aluminum quad rings and a 4x BSA scope on clearance at WalMart for a grand total of $17, and the switchout from the stock rear sight to the stock mount was pretty easy. Also has a laser sight that came with it (for low-light shooting from the hip I'm assuming). Took it to the range and dialed it in with cheapie Federal 180-gr target ammo to about 2MOA at 50 yds, with lots of POP from the .40 round out of a carbine-length barrel.

FUN FUN FUN!

I recommend them wholeheartedly. Not sure I'd trust my life to it, though the only FTE I've had can probably be attributed to the weak ammo.

I know not everyone can build a carbine for $17, but it can be done for under $200.

Just a tip on some cheap plinkin fun in .40S&W!
