off thread but
They probably would feed fine if I got the OAL right, my Springfield 9mm 1911 will feed empty cases from the mags I use 100%
I prefer to keep my 9mm match loads subsonic so I don't need boat tail wadcutters.:)

Maybe it's just me but I think there would be a market for them.
I had a forced 2 month shooting break due to lead issues so now I am maybe just a bit overly cautious.
Nothing fun down that road. -$$$

I don't blame you. While I used to shoot nothing but pure lead, these days I shoot very little of anything with an exposed lead base. My own reasons. :)

In the mean time, I have been playing with some dies and after a long and painful labor, a new RMR bullet has been born. Introducing the .357 sig friendly 124 FP.

I see these bullets are now listed. My order for 500 is in, and the 4th of July 10% discount also helped. Good timing. I will post some results once I have time to test them out.

From what I have gathered, lead absorption varies from person to person. I deal with lead every single day. I routinely get my lead levels checked and I'm always at a lower than dangerous level. I've heard of guys who can't even use regular primers or they get hit hard with lead levels.

Well, unfortunately I can't do it with the machine I have. We only have 8 stations and all of them are currently being used. In order to make a soft point bullet it would take one of two things. Either you would have to shape the nose with a punch instead of a die which wouldn't last very long before it broke and you wouldn't have a very well made ogive. Or you would have to flip the bullet over before inserting it into a die. Flipping the bullet over would require another station and about $2000 in tooling. That's the big reason our HP bullet costs more. It's a larger machine with more stations and there's a bit more money in fragile tooling involved. And it runs about 30% slower than our FMJ machines.

Yes that would be Sweet!!! 10% on the HPs Every $ saved means I can order more bullets:)
I'm sure if you wanted us to we code keep that code sort of secret to be shared only with THR members and not posted on the site. (exchange by PM)
I know nothing about making bullets (well to tell the truth next to nothing about everything) so I didn't know if it was possible or what would be involved. Sounds like it would be a pain.
I really appreciate you taking the time to look into seeing if it was possible/practical.

Purchased 1000 the other day to try, results to be posted soon.
My initial test may be a bit different than what othres are doing because I will be looking for something around 125-130 PF for match/practice use

(vaalpens Sorry if I hijacked the thread here for a bit)

Wait, there's a 10% off 4th of July coupon? Oh, boy...

Ahem. Where can said coupon be found?

PIF - a gift to someone who may in turn provide a gift to some one else who in turn may provide a gift to someone......
in a nutshell = gift.

This thread started as a PIF thread and then changed direction a bit, so let's get back to the original Zero bullets sent by Ghost in the Fog to me.

This week I made some time to test different bullets, including the Zero bullets. If you read my other post you will realize that my accuracy was not that good on the day due to having difficulty getting a consistent aiming point due to my focus. It seemed the vertical aim more, with most of my results showing a vertical stringing.

Following are the results from the Zero bullet test I did. I included all the targets just so you can see how everything was stringing vertically. The horizontal grouping was also listed since it gave me some idea how the bullets performed vs my aiming on the day:

My conclusion is that these bullets performed very well in 357sig and can be loaded in 357sig without any issues. My feeling is that the Zero 125gr FMJFP bullet is a better fit for 357sig since you have a wider COL range. I did not test these for expansion since they are not supposed to be expanding JHP's.

My normal BE-86 loads are between 7.6gr and 7.8gr in 357sig. Based on the above results it seems I will be going with the 7.8gr load for thr remaining bullets since it is accurate enough and performs close to my Sierra V-Crown JHP load using BE-86.
