It's a CC handgun and the sights reflect that. The huge U notch acts like half of a ghost ring, except that you're not supposed to center the dot in the ring. For the typical ranges and training for this handgun, you put the dot in the cup, so to speak. The caveat would be aligning the top of the black front sight to the top of the white ends of the U notch, which is more difficult for precision. The sight is made more for speed than precision, of course. The concept is not that much different from 2 dot sights like Sig's basic sight or the M9; or circle 8 sights for that matter in terms of vertical alignment.
