There are many people on THR that I would like to meet, but I've read and understand the difficulties of a national get together. What do you all think about filling a few classes simultaneously at Thunder Ranch or another national training facility? Instead of driving or flying cross country for a shoot, we would have training worth the doing anyway with the added benefit of meeting far flung members. Maybe we could get a group discount?

Anyone interested in the concept?

Isn't TR pretty much booked up until its close-down date? Neat idea, though. I'd be shocked if El Tejon (who I believe is at TR right now) wouldn't be interested.

Often people post when they are attending training at various locations. Find some near you and see if you can dig up interest.
Getting people to committ in advance to training that is some distance off is difficult at best.

But I like the idea.,

Just got back from TR. Going to miss Tejas.

Heidi sez everything booked up solid through end of year, but TR, Oreygun approx. 50% for public classes, private tutorials are booked solid.

Don't know about "group discount"? TR, Oreygun would be limited space. How about API250 class, or Blackwater, Shootrite, ITTS (I vote the latter)? Far more slots than the newly reconfigured TR.

I kinda like the idea of Blackwater, but I guess the where would need group decision. What I though was, maybe we could get 20-25 people or more in one or more classes during the same period of time. Maybe not everyone taking the same class, but taking a class they needed and being social in the off hours. I think it is too little notice to get people to commit this summer. I imagine most folk's plans are made. I just wanted to gauge intrest. Maybe we could schedule whole classes of THR members next summer.

I checked into a couple of schools, and right now Shootrite and Blackwater look like leaders. I looked at ITTS, but two things struck me as odd. While the price is low, so is their round count. Basic pistol is 200 rounds over two 8 hour days? The second problem is, of course, the location. They are California which means no carry on out of state permits. NC and AL on the other hand respect permit from 17 and 23 states respectively (including the popular Florida Non Resident).

I'm going to call both facilities today (don't worry I not going to represent THR) and check them out in more detail. Shootrite mentions group discounts on their website, but neglects to put pricing information.

I'll hopefully post what I find out later.

In the mean time, I'd appreciate feedback from those who have taken classes at these and other schools.

A group of us on AR15.com did a group thing at Blackwater this week. Worked out very well. Look in the Hometown section, Virginia for info. It went really well and had lots of fun :D

Day 1 600 or so pistol
Day 2 400 rifle
Day3 600 rifle, 100 or so pistol

There were 10 of us in the class, we all stayed on the property. PM me or check out the ar15 site for more info

The DFW bunch is talking about doing a low-light class out at Tiger Valley sometime.

They did have a pistol class out there awhile back, but I couldn't make it to the outing. Smoke, weren't you there for it? I think Alduro and Techbrute were the primary instigators of it.

Rabbit.
