QUOTE: "But what about actively teaching others to shoot? What about not fearing to be politically outspoken? What about making sure that one is aware of what's going on in the gun world?"

Sorry dude, but you are talking to the ORIGINAL greyman. I LIVE under the radar & I LIKE it that way. I live my life on a need to know basis & when it comes to my politics and my guns ....... you (generic) don't

It's a very free country. Live by your convictions I will never flame you.

I am with Treo on this.

As a husband, father, and the provider for my family, I am solely responsible for their health, well being and safety. In these roles, I will do whatever is necessary to take care of them.

My primary responsibility is to them, not to society. I am not looking to be a hero, Superman, John McClain, nor to save the world. If I am ever in a situation that requires their protection, my first goal is to remove them from danger if at all possible, or engage and remove the threat.

If this requires me to sacrifice my life, I will, but this decision should be my last resort. Part of my responsibility to them requires me to provide for their physical and emotional needs, which cannot be done if I needlessly give up my own life. If I must physically remove them from danger at the expense of others lives, then I will do so - this is my duty to them - not to be a dead hero.

If I am branded a coward for this act, then so be it.

At the end of the day, yourself is the only one you have to answer to about what you did or didn't do.

All you cowboys who say you know for sure what you would or wouldn't do are fooling yourselves.

No one knows how they will react to a traumatic situation until one presents itself. So many variables.

I carry. I will not sit here on some internet soapbox and pretend like I know what the funk I'm gonna do when the S hits the fan. I'll burn that bridge when I get there.

Some will never understand for I am MY Brothers Keeper! A few of us are left, most will never understand the necessity to stand watch on that wall. They cry about immigration, economy, and material goods, but those who do not take heed from the past are doomed to repeat it.

+1 to U.S.SFC

My Brothers Keeper

QUOTE: " I heard his fiancé got a letter, told how Billy DIED that day. The letter said that he was a hero , she should be proud he DIED that way. I heard she threw the letter away......."

Right before the movers showed up to take what little furniture she still had after paying for Billy's funeral expenses. Why were the mover there? Short sale dude, after she lost Billy's income she couldn't make the house note. Funny thing not a one of the people billy saved even offered to help. As a matter of fact the wife of the cop Billy accidently shot sued his estate so now Billy's fiance is living in the homeless shelter on 16th & Vine

QUOTE: "A few of us are left,"

There's a reason for that

I'm not a sheepdog. Sheepdogs are just another tool the shepherd uses. The sheepdog gets fed from table scraps i.e. what the shepherd can't or won't eat. A lot of the time, the sheepdog is spayed or neutered. He protects and herds the flock so the shepherd can exploit them with maximum profit and minimal losses. Until he gets too old and the shepherd puts him down and replaces him. Or he gets killed by the wolves and the shepherd replaces him. You be a sheepdog if you want.
I am a man. A man with a family to whom I have responsibilities. You go ahead and play sheepdog. Maybe the shepherd will pat you on the head.

5. I will be prepared to use my skills and knowledge to defend myself and others, even those who would seek the removal of my rights.
Sorry, this is where I draw the line. I definitely will do anything to protect my family's well being and possibly any other innocent after I am sure my family is safe. Somebody that I know has been instrumental in the removal of my rights? They are the enemy, much as bin Laden as far as I'm concerned. Anything else I say is definitely not high road.
