The infamous "glass rod"

Use "glass rod" in a sentence.

Ummmm ... "The trigger broke like the classic glass rod while the pistol fed over 200 mixed rounds with nary a bobble after the normal break-in period while displaying sufficient accuracy for its intended use."

To simulate a Nagant revolver.....I'd say screw rods, go to bars.

This coming from a person who used to own one, and wants to get another....it was the nicest handgun I've ever had the pleasure of disliking.

I seem to be one of the few with actual glass rod breaking experience; and I've broken more than a handful, for sure: taught several levels of college chemistry classes and labs, did several years of scientific glass blowing.

Glass rods, up to about one inch in diameter can be broken cleanly and easily by hand if properly scored with a quality fine tooth triangular file. They have a very predictable and repeatable 'snapping' point, less force than necessary and they flex, right at or more then necessary and they break clean with a sharp crack or pop sound. There is nothing proverbial about it; it's an extremely accurate simile for a properly tuned handgun trigger.

Break like a glass window or break like a malfunctioning printer I can relate to but a glass rod, no.

I think we've all had an "Office Space" moment a time or two in our lives. Im thinking about doing this again to my new printer right now... but don't think I could explain two printers in two months to the wife.

I love that movie! Now that I work in (but not part of, thank god) an office setting, that movie has taken on a whole new meaning!

In addition to the printer crushing I also did a number on a POS Dell desktop with a gladius. However, my results were not as epic as yours and mine unfortunately did not merit a photo.

I had to hit the darn flourescent light bulb with a hammer, hope it isn't like that glass rod
