Jim, there is not enough difference to put yourself through the hassle of building a custom 6.5-06. Unless you are dedicate rifle loony looking for something special for your kid.;)
I can understand that. I think I would have gone the next step though and chambered it in something like a .280 Ross. Oneupmanship you know.:cool:

My gunsmith had to talk me down from a 6.5 Gibbs. He then begged me not to mark the Barrel ".256 Newton" which was the designation for the original 6.5-06.:)
 
Great day indeed. A source of pride for you and her too.

(The day my dad remarked about my marksmanship surpassing his I felt about ten feet tall.)

:D I get a kick out of that, swear to God first thing I thought of was a .256 Newton but I wanted something more obscure. First thing I thought about after that was a .318 Westley Richard's [30-06 case size, after all] Settled on the Ross:cool:

Each weekend my two sons and I have Sunday range day. They are 23 and 20 years old. I need to practice a lot to keep ahead of them......
