I have made lots of Kephart knives, but this one that I just finished is kinda unique.
The customer specified a few things that make it kinda different from other Kepharts.
CPM 3V super steel with a cryogenic treatment, and a 6.25" blade
burlap micarta scales with red liners.
3V is notoriously difficult to finish because of the Vanadium carbides
I did a hand sanded finish to 1200 grit (whew!)
I think that it turned out great, what do you guys think?

The only way to make it betterer, would be to do one, with a handle like the one on the dagger.

Is the tip 1/3 down from the spine?
I ask because I had the good fortune to inspect, measure, and handle a near 100% condition Kephart that Ethan Becker had.

roughly 1/3
that is so cool, I've only seen pictures of that knife!

I have a one-to-one copy made by Mike McCarter exactly matching in every dimension. Mike even made it out of period materials. He and Dodgwood Dan are the only knife makers to have studied the Becker Kephart and Mike was the only one to make exact copies. One of Mike's Kepharts is at the Kephart collection in NC.

Not a great picture, but... You can see the 1/3 position of the tip from the spine. You can also see that the line from the tip back through the blade is the thickest part with spine slightly thinner. The grip is flared before the blade and has a "pinch" just behind the flare. The number of brass pins match the original. The Kabar is almost right, but lacks the relieves spine and the pinch and flare in the handle scales.

Here's Ethan's Kephart.

Here's the video that Kabar shot of Ethan explaining the significance of Kepart.
